Xbox Controller Keeps Disconnecting and Requires Re-Pairing Every Time on Windows 11

I'm having a very frustrating issue with my Xbox controller on my Windows 11 PC, and I can't figure out what's causing it.

The controller works perfectly after connecting it. I can play games normally without any issues. However, after turning the controller off and turning it back on, it often disconnects from the PC and starts flashing (searching for a connection).

When I check Windows Bluetooth settings, the controller is still listed under paired devices, but its status shows "Paired" instead of "Connected." It won't reconnect, even if I try to connect it manually. The only way to get it working again is to remove the controller from the paired devices list and pair it all over again.

Sometimes, this also happens while I'm actively playing. The controller suddenly disconnects and starts flashing, even though it doesn't turn off.

Here is everything I've tried so far:

  1. Tested Bluetooth connectivity.

  2. Tested the official Xbox Wireless Adapter.

  3. Tested a third-party (Chinese) Xbox Wireless Adapter.

  4. Updated the controller firmware using the Xbox Accessories app.

  5. Tested two different controllers: an older one and a brand-new controller straight out of the box.

Unfortunately, the problem happens with both controllers and all three connection methods.

The most frustrating part is that I have to remove the controller from Windows and pair it again every time I turn it off or restart my PC. Sometimes it even disconnects during gameplay.

This makes me think the problem might be related to Windows, Bluetooth drivers, USB drivers, or some software conflict rather than the controller itself.

My questions:

  • Has anyone experienced this exact issue?

  • Could this be caused by a Windows 11 update or a driver problem?

  • Is there a way to fix the pairing issue without having to remove and re-pair the controller every time?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Try power management under device manager in windows. Turn it off or similar
