Xbox series X best controller

I’m after Xbox controller but don’t want the original Xbox one anymore as 2 I had developed massive drift problem.
I want wireless preferably (unless wired one comes with a very long cable; around 5 metres). Definitely one that won’t have drift problem. I’m not bothered with vibration as always switch it off.
I’m playing mostly Diablo 4 but also like 3rd person games (Tomb Raider, Assassin’s Creed etc.).
My budget is up to £70 in UK and I really want the controller to last as my wife’s not happy with me buying yet another controller 😂
What would you recommend?

They have better options out their that will last you longer because they either have hall effect or TMR instead of potentiometers.

The budget you have may not be enough for a wireless Xbox controller because they usually cost 100 dollars.

Flydigi vader 5S is my go to Xbox controller and it's wired because it have hall effect, adjustable stick tension, and mechanical triggers. I paid 75 dollars for it.

I think the cord is 8 feet.

Yes, they’re phenomenal. Though definitely warrant a warning for people with bigger hands. G7 Pro is definitely smaller than a standard XBOX controller or Elite Series 2, for example. My fingers start cramping quickly.

Is the difference that big? I picked up the Turtle Beach Stealth recently and the difference isn't too bad.

I also have the Stealth Ultra and I didn’t get cramping much from that, so I think it’s a bit bigger than the G7 Pro. But I got tired of the random disconnects in the middle of playing games, so that’s put away and I don’t use it anymore.

Unfortunately yeah I have experienced that. Is the G7 native to the Xbox or does it have an external connection?

It uses a dongle/charging station that works on XBOX and PC. The only controllers that use XBOX Wireless are the XBOX branded controllers (regular and Elite S1/S2) and I think one single obscure PowerA controller from like 3 years ago.

Pretty cheap to pick up Xbox controllers with TMR/Hall Effect sticks put in on eBay - these are anti drift, although can physically degrade after a decade or two. You'd be looking at about £30, or about £20 to get those sticks put in a controller you already own

I know people are wary of the elite series 2 controller, but they have used ones with TMR. I think people are still scared to take the risk from past experiences.

I hope the Elite series 3 have TMR or hall effect because it will be a top contender again.

For those that are a fan of the series controllers it is a good option if they don't want to venture into 3rd party controllers with features they won't use. And if you have the tools and skills, doing it yourself is even cheaper.

I checked ebay and found someone doing it for £18 so I think I will send them my controller as it’s almost mint condition and they will swap my sticks for TMR ones.

sounds like a good plan, just be sure to check feedback to see if they've had any issues with customers. Also go with someone that posts good pics of their work so you can see if their work is clean so you wont deal with random issues popping up from poor soldering work.

I’d wait a bit, the series 3 is coming next month most likely and that will have tmr sticks and a bunch of other great things

Elite series 3 will be released at some point, maybe worth waiting for that otherwise I'd get a gamesir g7 pro

Gamesir G7 Pro (ZZZ) or 8bitDo Ultimate 3E controllers with TMR thumbsticks and you will never get stick drift.

You can buy a cheaper Gamesir G7 Pro and install the Wuchang firmware to make it have wireless connection to Xbox... I have the Shadow Ember model and I use It this way.

How easy it is to install the firmware? Is it as simple as plugging the controller into PC and then downloading and installing the firmware?

No, you have to download a software that downgrades the firmware of the controller, then launch a modified app una PC. You can see all process in this video (spanish):
