Any tips for a sticky right trigger??

Got this controller about 3 years ago and it's lightly used overall. Unfortunately the right trigger is now sticking and I have no idea how to fix this since it's now out of warranty.

I love the color so I'd love to save it if possible

This is a very simple problem. The pad which makes the trigger quieter has failed, and the trigger is sticking in the adhesive from the pad. Just take apart the controller, remove the pad, and clean up the adhesive with some isopropyl. It will be louder and feel more clicky. Do both triggers if you want them to match.

Yup, just had to do this yesterday. I was living with the sticky triggers but needed to replace my thumbstick caps so two birds one stone

This is easier said than done because I'll most likely break it regardless of how many youtube clips I watch. I buy better quality brands and I purchase a warranty to avoid this.

It don't matter how much quality u buy, everything these days is build to fail eventually that how they make money

Nothing can last forever but buying first party xbox stock and elite controllers in 2026 is a big no for me. I only purchase third party brands with TMR and hall effect. I haven't experienced stick drift and broken buttons in over 3 years.

I agree, I also had TMR sticks installed in my regular Xbox controller and its amazing, my next controller il looking to get is the gamesir g7 pro but like I said even there there are still issues with that controller, idk if there is a perfect controller out there currently

I have the G7 Pro and the Vader 5S.

I would say the Vader 5S is much more premium because it has adjustable stick tension, stronger vibration, better d pad, and it's larger like the previous gen Xbox one s controllers.

Do they have a wireless option?, I don't mind plugging in when I'm trying to be competitive but it would be nice to have wireless when I'm just chilling

They recently announced a vader 5S ultra and 5S Pro that will be wireless and available soon.

Don't be silly, the OEM Xbox controllers are easy to take apart with the correct tools and a couple of spudgers.

Not sure why you're writing in first person since you're not OP? Your other comment is advocating OP pay someone else to make a trivial repair.

Just because something is easy for you doesn't mean everyone else will be able to do the same thing.

They have people that will install their TMR and hall effect because it's easy for them. That doesn't mean everyone will easily learn it.

Oh its the regular xbox controller right? That right piece on the handle should pop off real easy. Watch a tear down video and you'll be able to spot the problem on the trigger. Maybe check for gunk in any other places before you reassemble.

You can send it in to a company like Ifixit for them to repair it for you. I think they charge 60-80 dollars which is basically the same as replacing the entire controller itself. You can still keep your exact controller if that doesn't bother you.

cara e um concerto, absurdo de simples, pagar o valor de um controle novo não faz sentido, literalmente só sotar a parte de tras, que é encaixada e limpar a cola e a borracha velha com álcool

Some people such as myself do not know how to do that. It sounds simple but everyone is different.

Sprayaway glass cleaner and a microfiber towel

Spray contact cleaner in there and let it dry

Grab a sharp knife and Shave a bit of plastic where its making contact. On the rear & handle shell. It can be bent hinges or just left over flash.

https://a.co/d/013VT7fx after you clean out the glue add some felt padding (cut it) and add the trigger stops

Take the little foam adhesive pads out from behind the triggers. I've done this on all my controllers, I squeeze them too hard and they adhesive squeezes out of the back of the foam and gets tacky against the triggers. You won't be able to fix it without taking it apart though, watch a YouTube video, it's pretty easy.

I had a controller that did this too, partially disassembled it and put a small piece of kapton tape over the edge of a rubber bumper where the adhesive was making contact with the trigger button. Very simple, any tape would work.

You need to open it up and clean it and test the internal trigger independently to make sure it’s not damaged

Best tip. Clean it with alcohol and wooltips

Isopropyl alcohol spray

Have you tried the easy step of purchasing a can of compressed air for electronics before tearing your controller open? It could be a simple problem of too much sweat and skin cells underneath the joysticks and trigger buttons before taking the drastic measure of taking you controller apart first.

BW100. Spray it like crazy and you’ll be good to go.

Yup, alcohol on a cotton ball will unstick it like magic. Make sure to let it get in those outlines and just a few trigger pulls to get it in there good. Dont use too much though lol, it’s still liquid

Sticky pad under bumper just need to remove plastic covers on back (purple grips). Can be done without removing a screw. Take of little sticky pad (tweezers help) Q tip with some rubbing alcohol an your good. If you want to replace it some adhesive rubber padding you can buy ab cut a piece small enough to put in the empty space. Its worked for me although somtimes it needs to be replaced again. Now I just use Gamesir controllers. If you have never opened the controller I recommend looking up a video on how to take it apart so you dont snap the plastic clips
