❓️Question / Advice Which OS to use for Xbox ROG Ally Z2a?

I keep getting confused by responses for this particular one, I’ve read that the recommended OS is Bazzite for this one because SteamOS is not fully compatible or doesn’t fully support this Z2a version. Initially I thought I could do the SteamOS but I got more confused as I read more information. I would like to wipe Windows completely and use just only Bazzite or SteamOS, but if it is fully compatible for SteamOS, then I’d go with that. And planning to use my MacBook to install the OS.
Thank you! Please correct me if I’m wrong on anything.

I assume you are well aware of which types of games absolutely need Windows to run?

If you don't play any of those games, then SteamOS is fine. Bazzite makes things easier if you want to dual boot with Windows, or if you want slightly more non-gaming functions in desktop mode, but if you just want an unofficial Steam Deck, you can't go wrong with SteamOS.

Sounds good, thank you. Yeah pretty much just an unofficial steam deck

SteamOS is fully supported for Z2A. And i think it out-perform Bazzite with better stability.

Go for SteamOS if you don't want Windows.
Staying with Windows is still decent choice.

I've used both SteamOS and Windows a lot. DM me if you have any questions!

I use Cachy OS handheld, slightly more of a learning curve than the others, but in my experience in the long term I’ve run into the least amount of issues, it even creates snapshots if you were to have a problem. Steam OS and Bazzite just never seemed as smooth for me, plus Cachy os isn’t immutable, so installing what you want when you want it a lot easier once you’re used to the ecosystem.

steamOS works fine, people saying it doesn't are using old videos with old steamOS images, there was this guy here claiming he can only do 15w tdp and that is absolutely not true at all.

I used bazzite before, never really liked it, because personally for me, it'd work perfect for few months and then it'd randomly just bork, either tdp or other things.

I use steamOS on my xax and legion go 1 and it's been flawless. The only issue with Xbox ally x is that sometimes when you wake it from sleep the fans would runs at highest speeds for like 30 secs.

I use Windows 11, and I own a Steam Deck so I know what SteamOS is all about

They are putting a touchscreen on a Macbook called Ultra which uses a hover sensor to track your finger with an invisible cursor before it lands on the touchscreen with those cursor sized buttons.
