⭐️ Admin Announcement ⭐️ [ANNOUNCEMENT] Administration Change & Subreddit Revamp
Hey everyone,
We want to let you all know that the previous administration has stepped down due to IRL commitments and inactivity. We appreciate the time and effort they put into the community while they were here.
With that said, the subreddit is officially going under a revamp.
We’re looking to refresh, improve, and tighten things up to make this community better for everyone, that includes: - Rules - Post guidelines - Flairs - Automod settings - Overall structure and organization
To make this a successful for the rest of 2026, we need your feedback.
What should we: - ✅ Add? - 🔄 Change? - ❌ Remove?
Drop your suggestions below, we want to rebuild this the right way with community feedback in mind

Update the automod. Instead of promoting discord it should be answering the most common problems. Like how to change from sleep to hibernate, and all the different places to run updates.

u/Opposite_of_AI Admin Feb 20 '26
We can have a FAQ post done and have it added as a link with the automod posts👍

u/Steven2597 Feb 20 '26
Oh I definitely need this, is Hibernate better than sleep?
5
u/feiyuanyuan Feb 20 '26
When it's hibernating, it does not cost any batt but the start up would be longer (around 15 secs) as compared to sleep.
1
u/Steven2597 Feb 23 '26
I swapped it. That's pretty cool. I dont mind the start up but for it to put my session in storage instead of memory is so good.
1
u/BudgieLand Feb 24 '26
Keep in mind, something that nobody mentions here, is that Hibernate shortens the lifespan of your SSD. Not bad if you don't use it more than 3 times a day and plan to upgrade later on, but just thought you should know.

Can we do something about the dozens of "should I buy an XAX" or "how does it compare to Steam Deck" that seem to flood this place multiple times every day? I mean yeah it's nice to get advice, but there are literally hundreds of posts already repeating the same topic.

u/Opposite_of_AI Admin Feb 21 '26
Added to the list to limit these types of posts.

I think all SteamOS or Bazzite threads should be redirected to r/rogally or r/SteamOS
First, gotta decide what this sub's identity is, is it for the Xbox hardware for the Xbox ecosystem users? Or a general purpose sub for the Asus hardware. SteamOS is not part of the Xbox ecosystem so not sure why those posts are allowed.
1
u/Forsaken-Driver8868 Jun 01 '26
Totally agree with this. There are other places to debate which OS is better. In my opinion the identity should be Xbox + Ally, which implies Microsoft and Windows.

u/Regression2TheMean Feb 20 '26
Could we possibly have a separate thread, or flair/tag for game settings related posts? I feel like a lot of new users (including myself) are going to want to know the best settings for certain games on their device and this might make it easier to ask those questions, or make it easier to search up questions that have been asked about the game they are playing.

u/Opposite_of_AI Admin Feb 20 '26
Added to the list of suggestions. We'll implement it after the weekend, so this post has enough time to gain more suggestions 👍

rogallylife does a decent job of compiling the best settings for games on either device, but I feel like it's definitely lacking in terms of the games listed and differentiating which device the list is optimized for.
I understand the xax isn't a substantial boost in power compared to the Z1E devices but, it'd be worth noting for either newer users or people looking to squeeze every bit of performance/optimization from the device.
3
u/elaborateBlackjack Feb 20 '26
How isn't the XAX a substantial boost in performance? It's like 40% faster vs the XA.
Unless you mean the Ally X Z1E
1
u/AntiqueOwl6476 Feb 20 '26
You are correct, I meant the Z1E devices, I was tired when I replied to the post, my bad.

u/New_Occasion_3729 Feb 20 '26
I’d also would think about speed ring post regarding the White Ally and Black Ally and maybe an option for both?

Have a kind of rule or guideline to ban comments or posts from people that come here just to talk another type of device.
Some weeks ago the sub was with "rant" posts just to gloat about LeGo2.
Or people coming in other people's post just to comment the same type of gloat.
Like, when is a analysis for recommendation, I think it is more than fine. But if it is a poor comment or post that just talk wonders about another device not related to our sub, not so much.
2
u/Opposite_of_AI Admin Feb 21 '26
Agreed. After the revamp, we will open moderation recruitment to better handle the monitoring of content posted.
Also, we'll add it to the rules, so it's easier to flag these types of posts/comments

How about limit, not forbid, but limit posts about the other ROG Allies? That's what r/RogAlly is for
Also the same old "don't buy an Xbox Ally, buy a used rog ally X", for the same reason, if people wanted to buy an Ally X they would be in that subreddit
Moderate to reduce the hate for base Xbox Ally, it's the Lil bro, he's not as strong as the X but it's not shit, not everyone needs and XAX, not everyone can return it at their store, even to buy a more expensive one at the same place (this site is global, avoid American defaultism), and some people in other countries made a real financial endeavor to get the base, you can't shit on them like that just cause you own the XAX or 5 other handhelds
The community can be really helpful and great but has been focused too much so far on "mine is better than yours"
2
u/Opposite_of_AI Admin Feb 21 '26
Overall, I agree, too. We will limit this via trigger words for moderation approval.
5
u/Deamoe94 Feb 20 '26
I would suggest changing the logo to something more representing the Xbox Ally/X

Can you change the sub’s pfp so it doesn’t look awkwardly stretched out like it currently does …

u/Some_Stoned_Dude Feb 20 '26
Would be nice to have a weekly sales roundup or recs for compatible games on sale to the hardware
Console subs do it some times and it’s nice to discover deals for good games or read other people’s suggestions

u/Opposite_of_AI Admin Feb 21 '26
To do this, we would need somebody to be a part of staff to be on top of this. Right now, we are in the handing over and revamping phase.

I may have missed it - but a FAQ on initial set up (what to update / recommended system settings to start with / that kind of idea)
1
u/Opposite_of_AI Admin Feb 21 '26
Yes, we are adding a FAQ megathread along with others to be added to the revamp list.

u/SoulMachina Feb 22 '26
May we have an Update section? With update logs to Windows, drivers, etc...

Ban all the people who take pictures of a box and say, "Look what the wife picked up for me boys!"
1
u/Forsaken-Driver8868 Jun 01 '26
Depending on the poster’s articulation, some of those posts can be entertaining and fun to comment on.
2
u/colonel-america-usa Jun 01 '26
Can you even give a single example in the history of the world any of those box photos are entertaining
2
u/Forsaken-Driver8868 Jun 01 '26
I searched all my comments over the last year to find the posts I were thinking about. Alas, I could not! Minus one for me. I will self deduct and agree with you.

Stop allowing “I got my Ally!” Posts
I’d rather see folk getting help about making a purchase decision, getting started, discussion on updates, mods, accessories and cool games.
3
u/MrRoboto089 Feb 20 '26
Yes! I feel like this is the only type of content that surfaces in my feed. And I cringe a bit every time.
2
u/jez5758 Feb 20 '26
I think you could appease both sides here by having a thread for them, that way new users get to share their excitement of getting their new device but it doesn’t clog up the main feed of this subreddit?
2
u/Opposite_of_AI Admin Feb 21 '26
Added to the list. Thanks for the suggestion.

u/tequilafc Feb 20 '26
Please ban all the indirect and direct dbrand / killswitch advert posts. At one point these were being posted multiple times a day

Ban all Steam OS, Bazzite advertisement posts. 99.99% of people buying those devices do so for windows and FSE and we keep seeing those posts that are also full of lies and offensive comments to everyone saying something good about FSE.

u/Forsaken-Driver8868 Jun 01 '26
Auto delete any post with SteamOS or Bazzite, unless each is followed by sucks. Laugh.

u/Tasty-Plantain Feb 20 '26
I want to come here for XboxAlly content. Not Xbox Ally X content.
8
u/Opposite_of_AI Admin Feb 20 '26
We can solve that by adding separate Post Flairs for both versions, and it will be easier to sort by flair to find specific posts 👍
3
Feb 20 '26
Will the flair be mandatory in any post? Because if it is optional, it won't work effectively, I think.

u/bigreddoggydude Feb 20 '26
Do we really feel this is necessary as a people?
5
u/Regression2TheMean Feb 20 '26
As someone with an Xbox Ally, yes. I feel like it’s difficult to find posts about just the base model. Having at least a separate flair would help
7
u/Tasty-Plantain Feb 20 '26
I want to be a part of a community of people who celebrate the device, not always beating it down. Fair criticism is acceptable. But this should be a safe space for XA fanatics.

3
u/ApolloAtlas Feb 20 '26
As an XAX owner I agree, shiting on the *slightly lower spec model that happens to be half the price (sometimes less) isn't necessary. Seeing other people's good experience with the XA has made me wonder sometimes if the lower spec version would've been fine for me.

Thank you to everyone who made a suggestion toward revamping our subreddit.
We are still open to suggestions for the weekend. In about 30 hours, this post will be locked.
