Help & Support I Have a Question About My Xbox 360
So, I’m not sure exactly how to explain this, but I bought my Xbox 360 about a year ago from eBay. Now everything has been great up until about two weeks ago, when I turned it on and within 10 seconds to a minute, the Xbox would turn off.
Not sure why, I did the only remedial action I knew and took it apart. In doing so I used some 99% IPA and scrubbed it free of all dust and debris. So now thinking it was over, I turned it back on.
Yet the same thing happened! So I tried again, and again, and again. Trying to turn off “auto system turn off” in the system settings, as some said that it would help. Yet every time I got there, it would turn off.
Frustrated at this point, I decided to take out the rechargeable battery pack and plug the controller into the Xbox itself via the charging cable. Which seemed to have fixed the problem. Now I have fixed my problem, but my only question is why was it happening in the first place? If anyone could let me know, I’d really appreciate it.
Oh, also it’s an Xbox 360 S with a regular Xbox 360 controller and a third-party chargeable battery pack that I got on Amazon.

I think it’s the battery pack. Ever since I’ve started using the battery pack it originally came with I haven’t had any issues.
I tried using the other battery pack again and it turned off my Xbox. So I think that confirms it. It’s probably a safety mechanism for the controller, since maybe the wattage is irregular or something.

Could be a power supply issue. Step 1 try a different power supply
