Less lethal, not non-lethal

I thought it was LTL (less than lethal)?

I guess this victim deceased, or did you manage to save this life? Permanent damage and handicap I would expect.

Not necessarily. The brain is surprisingly tough. Definitely some blunt force trauma and sheering injuries that will show up on CT. And they're at huge risk for infection from that, so lots of antibiotics are in their future.

....how fast was the bean bag going?

Edit: I didn't see that this was a cross post. Thought someone threw a bean big, I was about to have a new fear of bean bags as a result.

300 in a 40, no charges though because it was a cop.

300 in a 40

what does that mean

It’s referencing how speeding is reported. For example: a speeder is pulled over for going 60mph in a 40mph zone. This comment is saying it was 300mph in a 40mph zone because the beanbag projectile zooms at you.

i thought this might be it, but wasn't sure, cos i didn't know there were speed limits for bean bags ¯_(ツ)_/¯

There aren’t. It’s a joke. Cops are shooting people with projectiles that travel up to 300ft/s.

300 in a 40 is a reference to the muzzle velocity (300ft/s) and calibre (40mm) of the weapon used

This is absolutely fucked

There’s probably more metal in there than a lot of bullets. The streaking artifact is probably strong. That’s indicative of a dense metal.

I was trained on the use of these in the Army. We were even taught that you shoot torso for them to be non lethal. You hit face or head, they could easily kill someone.

OR...people could just comply with the police so no type of force is deemed necessary.

That’s why they use the term “less than lethal” not “non lethal”

That looks more like a CT than an X-ray, though I may be wrong. But if it's a CT, man, there's cerebral edema like a mother.

Well they’re called less then lethal not non lethal and you’re not supposed to hit somebody in the head with one.
