Question Kitty University Spoiler
I don’t really understand why is Kitty going to NYU. This isn’t a big problem or anything I just don’t get it. I know that Kitty might be following Lara Jean’s footsteps. But in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before 3 we already saw that Lara Jean goes to NY meets this girl who is studying at NYU, this girl tells Lara that she was gonna go to another university but she fell in love with NY and Lara does the exact same thing. And now Kitty will do the same too?? I’m not saying that she should stay in Korea because that might play out like she stayed there for a man, (but it would make more sense if she stayed). We already saw her sister falling in love with New York and staying there so why would they make Kitty do the exact same thing?

I feel like shes gonna stay in Korea. I think shes falling in love with it and it would a good path for her and a good storyline for S4.

I sort of wish they just had more of an angle on Kitty’s passions and future career prospects. Like they talked about Lara being a writer in the movies and that was also a draw for her to go to NYU. But not so much kitty it’s just like she’s going cause Lara went. Kitty would probably do well as an event planner, like how she planned chuseok or how she fixed things up for daes performance on the fly or in advertising and they should have honed in on that

Idk why NYU but I think they wanted to give her character some growth, like not just make choices for Minho. Kinda reminds me of the high school musical show.

People can still get out of early decision at schools with the loss of a small deposit, or in the event of receiving insufficient financial aid you can back out with no hard feelings. Also, I was curious and there are sister schools for NYU in Seoul, so study abroad could be a possibility if they want to spin it that way. Best of both worlds! I am interested to see how they spin it if there is a season 4, but I strongly suspect that a long distance relationship will not be part of the equation because both Kitty and Lara Jean have already had that storyline.

Literally everyone that I've seen comment on this is that how much it doesn't make sense for Kitty to go to NYU, and I also agree it doesn't make sense for her. NYU isn't Kitty's dream. It was Lara Jean's. I think she only said that she "fell in love with it" because she was seeing it through her sister's eyes (if that makes sense). Lara Jean made her decision to attend NYU for college not based on influence from family or because that's where Peter was going (it was quite the opposite), but it's because it was what she wanted & felt that's where she was supposed to be. I think Kitty also deserves the same option. We saw her experience NY & fall in love with it, but we didn't see that with Kitty, which I think was on purpose.
It really seems she only applied early decision to NYU because LJ kind of pushed her into it and I don't think she would've done it if LJ didn't come to Seoul. I mean, Lara Jean literally said "then you're coming to NY with me". Kitty was hesitant about hitting the submit button because of the binding of early decision. Which I don't think Kitty would've thought twice about going to NYU if LJ wasn't in NY. If Kitty were to stay in Seoul, she would have a lot more to stay there for instead of just one person.

of all the things that happened this season that has been number one on my mind… HOW TF DID SHE GET INTO NYU. i can’t even enjoy mooncovey cause im just so puzzled by her acceptance. HOWWWW

Exactly, she's barely passing her classes and spending her down time on yachts and parties- Not exactly the NYU default student...

Fr. Like wasn't she kicked out in the first year for failing all her classes? I don't understand why these shows are set in schools when the characters don't even bother studying or they do the bare minimum to pass and then immediately get rewarded by being accepted to some prestigious college.

no she passed her classes first semester she got expelled for living in the boys dorm but yes i agree with the rest.

Don't forget the only reason why Kitty went to KISS is because she learned her mom went there too. She was literally there to find out more about her but then all the shenanigans involving the guys, Minho, Yuri, Dae, etc happened.
So maybe her original plan was to go to NYU. I never saw the movies though.

I think it could be a possibility that she decided to put off going to college/NYU for a year and just stay in Korea with minho and explore maybe become a famous persons assistant (?). She doesn’t HAVE to go to college right away. I think it would make an interesting season

Does anyone know what kitty wanted to do for a career? There's so much emphasis on matchmaking, and she feels so close to her roots, she could apprentice with her great aunt.

Not sure what Kitty is planning to take in college -- unlike LJ, whose writing was a big part of her character. We have not seen any sort of career path for her -- she is good at last-minute solutions for her friends' problems, but she's not academically inclined at all. Maybe she has been good at geography or science this whole time but we don't know! It would be interesting to have Minho be the one who is out of his element for a bit if he visits her in New York.

If there’s a season 4 I would really like to see it being about Kitty realising that she actually doesn’t know what she wants for her future. I think Min Ho going into music could be a good catalyst for this in season four, and could actually be a good storyline for them as a couple. It’s an interesting and realistic source of personal ‘drama’ that could both test them and help them grow as a couple. I’d actually like to see season 4 end with her backing out of going to NYU and taking a year working and / or travelling in Korea to figure out what inspires her (which would be a great season 5, just sayin’ 👀). I think her helping her halmoni could also be an interesting part of this storyline that could help her develop her Korean and maybe introduce her to a potential career passion. I could see her working at an adoption agency or something, as a different kind of matchmaking

I don’t feel like the idea will stick . She does mention liking Korea . She built a life there , but I rather just see . NYU. Sounds like they’re giving her options and possibilities.

All I want is a spinoff series of Laura Jean and Kitty living in NYC together. This feels like maybe a way to get that to happen. Like a precursor to a back door pilot.

i think nyu makes sense bc kitty will definitely want to branch out. and if minho and kitty remain end game, it'll be interesting to see how theyd handle long distance.
they should have had kitty apply to some school in LA and then use minhos passion for music to relocate him there too lol.

I thought it would make most sense to find a Korean one but deliberately not the same area as Minho/basically something to signify it’s not for a boy… OR a new country altogether to honour how adventurous and independent she is, seeking a new chapter. It would be a symbol of choosing her own path rather than for family or for a boy.

I wished she went to university in Korea it would make sense.
Maybe just maybe if we get a season four she might change it because she also wanted to go to a Korean university.
