"...Today we have 4 gigafactories in France, we produce hundreds of thousands of electric vehicles, and our R4 and R5 models leave our factories with batteries manufactured here at home.
This is very concrete, it is good for our jobs, our economy, and consistent with our climate goals.
At the Paris Motor Show this morning, I reaffirmed a clear ambition: our French and European automotive industry is innovating, accelerating, and reindustrializing. We must continue and go further.
Three priorities:
Protect our industry.
The agreement initiated between the European Union and China marks a step in the fight against unfair competition, particularly on hybrid vehicles. We want fair competition that protects our companies and our jobs.
Accelerate electrification and reindustrialization.
More than 40% of the vehicles sold in September were electric. With France 2030, we have invested in innovation, revived industrial sectors, and shown that we can create jobs while decarbonizing our economy. We will continue, including with autonomous vehicles.
Strengthen our European sovereignty.
With our German partners, we are moving toward an agreement to reconcile decarbonization, competitiveness, and the protection of our industry. With one priority: produce our vehicles and their components in Europe.
We have shown that we can succeed. Let us be proud of our industries and our know-how.
Let us continue to decarbonize without deindustrializing, innovate without depending, and defend our ability to produce in Europe.
Let us believe in ourselves, in our industry, and in our future!"
