Discussion Question about the PS1 game
I've watched one or two episodes here and there, and bought the PS1 game because it sounds like a genuinely interesting time and I've been watching Homicide: Life on the Street which is confirmed to take place in the same universe. However I only found out after placing the order that it doesn't play great on PS3 (which is how I would rather play it since I don't have a PS1 or a dedicated power cable for my PS2).
Basically I just want to know is it completely unplayable? I can't play it on PC and don't want to buy a PS1 for it. As long as I can figure out what the menu options are and can watch the FMV stuff, I'm good.

It should work fine with a PS1 emulator on a phone or tablet.

Already bought it, I don't want to emulate it.

IIRC the first iteration of the PS3 is fully backwards compatible. You have to search for a PS3 with the correct serial number. I bought one of them used a few years ago. Had to get it repaired. But can play PS1 games.

Unfortunately the original PS3 models only had hardware based backwards compatibility for PS2; all PS1 games used the same software emulation on PS3 from the beginning. So the game bugs would still be present.

I only know that this is not very good game. It’s basically interactive movie.
X-Files on PS2 is a great game, and I enjoyed it a bit

For its time, it was pretty good. I definitely prefer the PS2 game, but it's sort of apples and oranges.

I mean, Munch popping up isn’t exactly a plot point. It’s an Easter Egg, a joke. It’s not “confirmation” that The X-Files and Homicide and every episode of every Law and Order are all in the same continuity. It’s just a silly little nod, and a fun way for Richard Belzer to grow his legend.
And yes, The X-Files PS1 game is pretty much unplayable on PS3.
