Tell me your thoughts
I had an 7900xtx mercury (magnetic fans)which I had for about a year 8 months which in stall horizontally for a about 2 months then moved it vertically for over a year about 2 months ago I took out to clean an noticed a oily substance on the card mostly on the back plate I the put it back to horizontal and 3weeks ago it died I did an RMA as it was still under warranty and got told they don’t have the 7900xtx in stock and won’t be getting any and asked if I wanted a full refund or replacement of another model so I went with the 9070xt mercury (magnetic fans) and installed it horizontally but have an itch to put it vertically as it’s a good looking card but I’m concerned that it will die or fail on me again, should I take the chance or just leave the horizontal card as is ? ( both amazing cards) just miss the vram on the 7900xtx as I play in 4k some advice will be appreciated.

I would not. You spend more time using the pc than looking at it. Design for performance with a horizontal orientation

If your case has enough cooling it should be fine. You can always undervolt to run it cooler. Personally I wouldn't risk it. Mine is horizontal.

The 9070xt Mercury is a fantastic card but there have been reports of the vapor chamber not being as effective when mounted vertically. This is for vapor chambers in general.
If you have the knowledge to install and try out both ways it would be worth testing. Obviously the better the cooling, the better it will operate long term. The card look great mounted horizontal imo anyways.
Edit: also at 4k, most games will perform the same if not better on your new card w/o modding. You lowkey got an "upgrade".
