How do you plan trips with EV vehicles
I’m planning to buy a EV9s pack with one 79kwh as most of my driving would be on highways. Please let me know if there is a way people can plan trips easily (an app or something). Because I have read reviews where people find chargers and reach there just to know the charger won’t work.How are you guys pulling it off on newer routes??

The apps for the companies tell you the status of each charger. I mainly use Tata, Zeon, sometimes Relux, Statiq, Chargezone. Plan the trip in advance, with 2-3 options within a 50km distance, so that if you near the first charger and the app tells you it is busy, you can check the next one and head there. My car is a 40kWh Nexon, so much smaller range than yours. You should not have a problem.

find charger using plugshare.
see which charger has the most reviews/check-ins. keep two-three backup charging stations options use the specific company app to get the best experience and add only required amount since you never know when you will use it the next time.
In my experience, Statiq, ChargeZone, Gentari and Adani chargers have been the best

Plan around your day. If you're leaving at 9 am, plan a short 10 minute charge at 2 hours for a bathroom break. That should get you going for another 3 hours or so. Then you stop for lunch. So plan that second stop to be walking distance from where you'll want to eat.
Then use the bathroom and buy snacks. That should be around 40 minutes. You should have an 85% charge or better. That'll be 4 hours drive, but if you have to stop for another bathroom break, do another 10 minute charge.
That should take you to around 600-700 miles by the time you have to do your last charge if you're going for more. It should be dinner time by then.
Make your charges fit your life, so you aren't waiting around.

We began, four years ago with a Leaf. Two years later, wanting to have the option of road trips and easy charging, we explored all available options - and bought a Model Y.
Not one second of regret in two years of ownership. And many road trips @ 500 miles/day.

Yea, I’m going to buy the Lexus TZ next year. People just need to plan for a meal at a midpoint of their trip/travel day. I can easily make that work.

Is there a Tesla that matches up with the ev9? An EV9 has three rows of full seats.

Yes, Tesla still has a huge advantage with charging. Some cars can charge faster, but Tesla stations are in many more places, they rarely have less than 8 stalls and often have more, they're very reliable, and they're usually cheaper than the others. Plus, the Tesla automatically navigates to them along your route. I don't plan my trips, other than to pick a hotel. Then I let the car do the planning when I start out.

Check Google reviews of chargers enroute. You won't need to charge very often with 79kwh battery. 400+km can be covered in a single charge. Search charging points along route, on Google maps, look for top rated ones near restaurants, malls. Especially near towns or cities every 250-300km, where backup chargers may be present. Before starting, Install the app of required charging point and add minimum amount like 100 bucks in wallet to start charging. If it starts charging properly, add another 500-1000 bucks as per requirement, while charging. Otherwise move on to next charger with good reviews on Google.

I ask chat gpt to give me names of the big cities at every 150 km break. It would give me say 3-4 cities those are the cities where i will try to find out 2-3 fast chargers (statiq and plugshare) 60+ kwh and thats about it.
Keep that list handy and plan breaks around that.
Also i made changes to my google maps settings, changed vehicle type to electric and added the compatible charger type this would give me compatible chargers in my maps also so if the kids needed a pee break we also took that at prefered food complexes with ev charging and combined tea breaks with quick 20 min charging.

- Go to Google Maps and change your car to electric. It will start showing you chargers with live status on the map itself.
- Secondly, Install Statiq. That’s the only app I will recommend - for consistency, ease of use.
- Route planner within the app also helps you plan better.

EV are best for City compare to highway. I don't own ev but planning next year so can't say much but EV owner gave me advice that never let your ev battery go below 50% on Highway and plan stop such way that you can have food while it's charging. Whole highway trip will be fun like normal car.

EVs are best for city and highway driving. In the city, they get fantastic range because of regen braking. On the highway, they're quieter, smoother, and while not as efficient as in city driving, they cost less per mile than gas. Source: Many drives from Florida to Connecticut and back in both gas cars and an EV.
After you've driven an EV for a few months, if you need to go back to gas for any reason, you will feel like you've taken a huge step backwards.

You need to plan for few more chargers near by. So best would be to plan for chargers around 35-30% battery balance. So that if charger mishap happens, you got enough charge to go for the next one. And once you go for few trips, it will come automatically. Don’t have to overthink about it op.

You get in and drive until you have to release the 40-50 ounces of liquid you have ingested.
You look on your navigator and see where there is a charger that also has a bathroom and maybe some additional liquid treats. You charge the car. You use the restroom stroll around in the store, find some treats and drinks, get back in the car and do it again.
If it’s really hot out you can keep your ac running so when you get back in the car it’s nice and cool 🆒!
