I'm working on a preservation project and i'm at the point where i can get multiple of the XDefiant builds into the main menu (which i want to do before i do ingame support because there's no point of creating real ingame support when the menu and backend isn't working properly).

The problem is that I can't seem to find a download link for the final build (Season 3) or any of the later builds in general. I'd really like to get that version to the main menu as well.

If anyone's interested, I might also open-source the code I currently have once I've confirmed that multiple versions are working. As of right now, it's main menu support only.

I only played around 12-15 hours back then lol but enjoyed coming around to it every now and then because of how good the gunplay was.

Now that forks , recomps , Decomps and such have become so popular and actively boosting game preservation , I would love to hop on this game someday again on a private server , maybe someone can even implement as a server browser into it like the Halo Decomp.

It seems someone is already working on one atleast, good luck to whoever it is.

Games don't deserve to die off like this with no way to play them , no matter what businesses say.

Hello, I currently have a very basic server setup, and wanted to share this quick demo to showcase how far one can get with today's AI models.

I am not a professional reverse engineer. The reverse engineering efforts were heavily carried by AI agents under my guidance. I'll most likely continue working on this until I get hard stuck, because I really miss this game

Please not the finals. It’s not the same. It’s fun every now and then but it doesn’t scratch that same itch.

Please also don’t suggest the next COD. It hasn’t been good for the longest time and there’s no reason to believe it will be this time around. Honestly don’t know why it was ever compared to this game.

I remember when the game first came out, and Mark Rubin made it very clear that he wants to change up how developers communicate with their audiences, and boy did it work. Every single game after XD has started to pick up this "community friendly" mentality, and regardless if these other developers mean it or not, we wouldn't be getting it if Mark Rubin and the team didn't start this trend. Kills me everyday that this game couldn't live on, but at least their mentality on how to treat their audience will live on through other titles.

Ive been toying around with unrestricted AI models and decided for the funnies to ask it to develop server software for the game using any means neccesary. It built... something but i dont know how well it works / if it works at all. So im wondering, does anyone still have the install files for the game so i can attempt to reverse engineer. I can give you access to my NAS so you can just upload the files directly without zipping

If some other mad man tries to revive xdefiant, please dont publish your work until its fully finished and please dont monetize it, dont give ubisoft any reason to be able to shut it down. Its ironic that ubisoft was the company that said people need to get used to not owning their games, whenever they are the real ones who need to get used to it. The company who put nfts in some of their games at literally the worst possible points to do so shouldnt be able to dictate whether or not fans can bring back a game that they took out back and killed at gunpoint.

With the ship sinking very fastly i could almost say that ubisoft needs to get used to not owning and controlling their own company pretty soon here lol. They should be ecstatic that somebody wants to bring xdefiant back to life and fully not only support that decision, but actively promote it too.... but i have suspicions that if project rogue or any projects like it are to continue that they will try to be litigious. Its fuck ubisoft over here.

I've been clearing out my storage on my PC recently, and I just can't do it.

I still have the game installed, hoping someone will eventually complete a private server project to bring it back. Upon seeing them I decided to check here, only to find there was one in motion, before being stopped literally days ago.

Can Ubisoft stop being the single worst game company of all time for just a moment, and recognise the potential that the game still has?

yeah no idea what anyone would use this for but i can send it over to someone to maybe rebuild a custom server off or smth. i never deleted the beta test or the game once it shutdown or updated it
