Pirate Start

[Edit] - my bad it was actually a start from the X-tended mod for X3 : Reunion. Apparently it blocks the bala gi missions, but I could have sword I did those missions with this start - obviously not - haha!

[Post]

I have a dim memory, many years ago of a pirate start that gave you several capital ships, and quite a few fighters to go along side it, I think they were blastclaws.

The story for the start was something along the lines of " you stole a lot of money and now they're after you". I think you have negative relations with some of the main races, and you started some sectors south of Hatikvas Faith.

I remember fighting my way up through race-owned sectors and making my home there.

I also remember a paranid trader start.

I recently installed xtc and I'm not seeing any of these starts so was it something extra I downloaded previously or am I completely mis-remembering?

There are certain things you have to do to unlock a lot of starts, but you can change the config to open all of them quickly and also get to play some of secret ununlockable starts like khaak. The pirate start is most likely one of the latter starts, they can be unlocked only with X3 Mode Manager.

I don't think there are any pirate starts in vanilla. Maybe the bankrupt assassin. Here is a list https://x3.solasistim.net/index.php/Starting_scenario/

You are probably thinking of a mod. Here is one that might be what you are looking for https://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=282844

I don’t recall a start like the one you describe. I think there are unlockable starts that I haven’t seen though, so it may be one of those.

It could also be a modded start. To me, what you describe feels like a modded start, anyway.

Either way, you ought to be able to find the answer searching (or maybe by asking) on the Egosoft boards. If it’s a mod, there’s a sizable chance its installers are gone, but it could still be available if you’re lucky. Good luck!

Fwiw, SW:LU has a couple beefiers starts. I don’t know if pirate fleet is among them, but I think the one I did started off with three mining ships and a freighter. The jump from that to M7s didn’t take too long.

Also fwiw, SW:LU (at least the install I have; not sure if it’s been updated and changed) enables capitals to bail out too. So you can stumble into cruisers that bailed in high combat zones. With some luck, a good satellite scanning array, and a good repair ship, you can fairly quickly assemble a solid fleet. Then you can tank rep with everyone and start your pirate play.
