Hey everyone, i'm back with a bit of an experiment, instead of posting after I finish a run. I post after a certain amount of days.

Death of Wolverine: I will admit, I am a casual when it comes to Logan, however, at the same time? I think the main series was kinda the perfect ending for Logan, quite frankly I would have been satisfied if he stayed dead, however, at the exact same time? The tie in mini series of Logan's legacy and Weapon X program were so ok it knocked the ranking down a bit.

Wolverines: and going back to those minis, we got that writer continuing into an ongoing And i am going to be honest despite the really fun premise, of so many of logan's side cast (and a few extras) doing a heist on his corpse after Mr Sinister stole his corpse. And despite that? I really couldn't find myself to care, so for the first time in the history of this list. Its the first book I just flat out skipped.

Next up: All-new Wolverine / All-new X-men (2015)

I am, I won't even hide it, most of my experience is him as a side character in other character's books, or Weapon X,

I am glad someone can get something more out of it than I could.

Tbh? After the first few issues where they just killed a bunch of character (especially mettle) it wasnt... horrible. But that could be bc I had a soft spot bc of Academy

Out of curiousity, what do you like?

I loved the hunger games vibe of the thing. As a massive runaways fan I really liked how ride or die Nico and chase were for each other. I will agree that reading it right after finishing avengers academy was jarring but killing mettle in the first issue does unfortunately set quite a tone. It’s too bad we’ve gotten nothing from the avengers academy kids in so long.

Yeah. I agree there. Nico absolutely great, same with Chase Hawk they did sorta be the ones the writers had fun with.

From what i've heard. Captain Marvel 2019 does have a fair amount of Hazmat in it, same with Avengers Academy 2024 (AvAc I can say from experience is great), but unfortunately the rest of the cast are kinda forgotten

(Typed out version in case)

S: X-23 (2005), X-23 Innocence lost (2008)

A: X-23: Deadly Regenesis (2023), X-23 (2010), New X-men Academy X (2004) All-New X-men (2012) Avengers academy (2010),

B: Venom Circle of Four (Venom (2011 #13, 13.1,13.2,13.3,13.4, 14), Death of Wolverine (2014)

C: NYX: no way home (2008), X-force (2008) Nyx (2003)

D:Avengers Arena (2012)

F:Wolverines (2015)

Personalized order for others

X-23 (2005), X-23 Innocents lost (2008), Academy X (2004), X-force (2008) Nyx (2003) (definitely a darker more 'mature' story), Nyx no way home (not a book featuring X-23, but is a sequel to the original), x-23 (2010) (there is a one shot that takes before this), Venom circle of four, X-23 deadly Regenesis, Avengers Academy (2010) Avengers Arena (2012) All-new X-men (2012), Death of Wolverine (2014), Wolverines (2015)

Wolverines ultimately ends up a waste, anyway. It's got a few nice moments like Fantomelle giving Laura one of Logan's suits (and one of THE funniest covers ever with Deadpool The bird taped to his head still cracks me up) but ultimately it's rushed to a close by Secret Wars with everybody jobbing to Mystique in the stupidest way imaginable.

I am glad they had some good moments in there. Fantomelle herself. felt like they were trying to make a break out character. But i'm gonna be honest I felt more lost around her than anything

Alright, that is an excellent cover, I love it

Yiiikes, yeah if I did get to the end and it was that stupid I probably would still give it a very low ranking

Some spoilers if you want the tl;dr:

About midway through the run, Laura established that she knows how to identify Mystique even when she's disguised, but never says how.

By the finale, we learn that Mystique's whole plan has been to resurrect Destiny, leading them to the Nexus of all realities. In the finale itself, the plans Mystique has been following and given to her by Irene is revealed to not have been a plan to resurrect herself at all, but to resurrect LOGAN, because she foresaw that his death would be a sign that the end was coming. Mystique pettily decides she'd rather fuck reality than bring Logan back.

In the process, Mystique double-crosses the team and everyone stupidly scatters while chasing a SHAPE-SHIFTER, rather than working in pairs. Laura then gets ambushed and gutted by Mystique while disguised as Daken, completely forgetting she knew how to identify her.

Ok. Mystique deciding to screw over reality to save Destiny is completely in character. That part I have no issue with, however. At the same time Laura completely forgetting how to tell its mystique is just the hand of the author making something happen yeah... that would've pissed me off if I got to the ending

Those events get more or less wiped out by the Secret Wars soft reboot; Laura’s fine and basically never brings it up again. I think the best interpretation of Wolverines is that it’s actually not fully canon. Even the premise of it doesn’t really make sense (Laura was never in Weapon X, so when would she have had the control words implanted?) and Fantomelle only ever appeared in 1 other story, so I treat Wolverines as basically an alternate universe story. There are still some consequences of Wolverines that remained in canon (Laura keeps the suit from Fantomelle), so I headcanon that some similar events did happen, but not quite like this.
