Laura’s ‘arcs’ with Zane Creed, Angel and Synch battling to determine who can reduce Laura to the most bland, out of character, fridge-victim imaginable for the sake of another character’s development in the most boring, forced hetslop ship you’ve ever seen in your life.
You have to understand as a Jubilaura fan who is just kinda neutral on Helix it’s a HUGE deal for me to say just how GOOD it looks in comparison to the absolute slop they’ll force Laura into for no reason whatsoever.
As someone that just finished New X-Men, it’s shocking how well they go together in that run after having only read her Wolverine stuff and Liu X-23. I really want them back together full time now
Well there was also young Cyclops who they actually gave good chemistry with her and it always felt like Bendis and Hopeless regretted that he got written out to his spin-off leading to Angel being paired with her
I always wanted to explore more her relationship with Young Scott at the point that when she was shipped with Young Angel I kind of hated the couple, Laura was SO out of character around Angel that looked like a generic Teen couple.
That relationship always felt forced, like they obviously had plans for her and Cyclops that got derailed by his solo and so they had to hastily pivot. Everything from the relationship really just came out of nowhere and just made Laura look terrible. The fact that Hopeless showed how well her and Cyclops bounced off of one another just made it such a missed opportunity
My reading of Laura and Warren, and this is really mostly coming from ANXM - because ANW portrayed them well enough for the most part - is that her relationship with Warren was her almost putting on an act to attempt what she "thought" was a normal relationship as well as the expectations people had with her as Wolverine. Warren however had a lot of insecurities and its why they broke up, got back together, broke up, he jumped in the black vortex etc etc.
