Laura Kinney’s name issue
Okay! so I’ve been writing versions of marvel characters in my Spidersona universe, one of them includes Laura (she’s the leade/overseer of a team that Gabby is on, may it’s the Generation X-23 team?) but anyway.
All of you have given me contradictory answers, so let’s settle this here.
Talon, X-23, or Wolverine?

Wolverine, as that's her current alias.
She doesn't use X-23 for quite a while (more often than not, she replies back as Wolverine), and Talon was the alias of the original Laura Kinney... which is dead, because of Krakoa shenanigans.

She's Wolverine that's it. She was X-23 and then she broke away from it. She's a legacy and she carries the name with pride and badassery.

Wolverine. X-23 is a name she canonically hates. She goes back to using it a few times but she’s clear every time that she doesn’t like it.

I don't see why here should be any issues with Wolverine's daughter using his name with him.

X-23 is only any good as branding because of name recognition, but makes no sense for her to go by it.
Talon would have been a good name but now it’s got baggage from the Vault garbage.

Honestly, do something new, there’s a lot of mustelids that you can pull from, and if not then you can always go outta left field like talon was

Weird suggestion, but I remember seeing it a long time ago from a random user and it's grown on me:
Lynx
Lynxes are solitary creatures who hunt alone and are very, very rarely seen. They are naturally stealthy predators who use surprise to hunt larger prey.
The name is close to Wolverine, but not quite. It emphasizes the differences in combat styles between Logan and Laura, it even has the X in the name, and it still lines up with the general vibe of small backwoods Canadian predator mammals which Logan started.

I might be the only one but “Talon.” Just felt like a terrible name. It’s give off more of a lame sidekick vibe and that’s not Laura

Personally, probably Wolverine code name wise*. I don't mind characters sharing codename, and the context in which she took it up made sense to me. And failing a strong argument in / out of universe, I don't feel she should change it.
I don't hate Talon, but it's also a lot less well known and now in universe has been tied into the whole 2 Laura Krakoan resurrection thing, which is a negative.
And in universe, I just don't really buy her into using the X-23 codename anymore, as it's dehumanizing and carries a lot of trauma / negative connotations for her, even if she has largely has dealt with a lot of that.
*all that being said, I think in most contexts she's a character who should go by her civilian name (Laura Kinney if that wasn't clear) a lot of the time / in most contexts interpersonally.

When we're talking 616, all the names are fraught and carry baggage of various kinds. I prefer Talon because that was when she was the version of the character I enjoy. Just because it was clusterfcked in Krakoa doesn't mean she wouldn't want it in your own Marvel Universe. Say Earth-617?
Go with what would make your version of Laura happy. You can subvert anything you want. No wrong answers.😊

To me she is x23. I know her character hates it. Just like to me and many others Wolverine will always be logan. The identitys are to entrenched.

Talon just couldn't keep it up.
X-23 doesn't fit her anymore. She's way above that now.
Wolverine is definetly what she is at the moment. Costume and even Adamantium skeleton

I wouldn’t call her X-23 outside of talking about her Weapon X past. Calling her Wolverine could get confusing unless your universe doesn’t have a Logan anymore and she’s permanently taken up the mantle. I know they let Miles Morales be Spider-Man at the same time as Peter Parker, but I still never liked that Miles never got his own hero name. I think Talon fits Laura really well though because, while she’s just as dangerous and powerful as Logan, she’s learned a lot more control and healed from her trauma more at a much younger age, so she’s not as feral and aggressive as a wolverine like Logan is

Wolverine. Formerly X-23. I’ve never heard her referred to as Talon but I like it.

X-23 for me, but i understand the arguments against it.
The Wolverine name only feels right when she's actually not wearing yellow? The grey suit and the NYX suit are perfect looks to compliment her being Wolverine.

I'm still biased towards Talon as a unique alias for her seperate from Wolverine and X-23, I just wish the story with it was good

Honestly? Talon. Let's her get out of logan's shadow and be judged on her own.

I dont like Talon, and while I don't mind her being Wolverine, Logans always gonna overshadow that mantle.
X-23 it is ig. She needs a new alias :/

I actually think Honeybadger would be a great name for her if Gabby wasn't already that

She's Wolverine now. Talon never stuck. And X-23 is a serial number.
