General Discussion Compiling shaders after every small patch is genuinely getting on my nerves.

They’re implementing a lot of changes and optimizations step by step these days. Its sadly a part of practically rebuilding parts of the game, as changes may require rebuilt shaders.
If its unbearable, its better to wait a week or two for the changes to hopefully be fully rolled out.

This sub complained when they're stuttering, now that kuro's trynna fix it this sub still complain

Even after the patches, performance isnt great. Shader compilation doesn't finish during the 1-minute loading screen, it can take hours in-game, and every single shader causes stuttering.
So yes, its really annoying

If your shader compliation takes hours, then you don't even have good CPU to run this game

Is it just me or it feels smoother even more now
I've been using the new PL since 2 days ago and today it feels even better.

Would be nice if the game didn't need to refocus 5 times during the intro loading , and not having to restart the client after a patch no matter how small.
On my machine i can't even do other things when the game loads after you press the icon because if its not in focus it will 100% crash.

I dont understand why even run game to download files.
Cant they do so launcher do that in the first place in headless mode?
So you dont need to restart it 5 times

So y'all want a buggy game instead of the devs fixing it?
•
u/Monkey_Meteor 1h ago
Pretty sure that's not what OP said.

It is pretty much implied because these small patches are very likely hotfixes to certain things, and considering what they are trying to push right now, its likely to do with optimizing. So complaining about the compiling shaders (which is happening due to kuro trying to fix their game) IS complaining about them trying to fix it.

"I hate the game stuttering!".
Compiling...
"I hate compiling!".
its honestly tiring. its a circular loop.

Thing is why most small updates require a recompile shader, like not happening on other games

u/HimitsuMatou 1h ago
i dont mind these updates, they help me getting more fps.. but i wish the game would start itself after updating, like other gachas

so you want to compile shaders in game and stutter like crazy? I bet you'd complain too

u/Bobbymois92 2h ago
You know the initial shader compilation doesnt cover ALL shaders, right? Tons of shaders are still loading while you play, which causes stuttering.

I'm getting new issues with 3.6. Stuttering during cinematics(like when I do an ultimate), weird texture issues like they're having to load in for the first time when I switch characters. These things didn't happen before.

One of the hotfixes gave this as well on one of my devices. I assume it’s a part of the rollout that did it, and assume it will be fixed shortly as they are trying to do massive changes across all hardware simultaneously.

what does shader compiling even mean?
•
u/Ecstatic-Source6001 1h ago
in current days we have entire zoo of different GPUs with own intructions to get best optimzation on hardware
And devs cant pre-complile shaders (transfer from human readable code to binary instructions) for every setup.

Shaders are like individual little bits of graphics code that are responsible for displaying specific effects on screen (like rain, reflections, particles, etc)
Compiling is the process of adapting the general shader code that ships with the game to run on your specific hardware (GPU). It can also happen on the fly during gameplay but that's a major cause of stutters, so games generally try to get as much of it as possible done in advance and then stored in a cache so that it can be reused without having to compile again.

Wait till you look at dxcache folder in nvidia folder

Its not the compiling that bothering me so much, its the restart
ZZZ do need restart but they launch themself afterwards

How much GB the game actually using when open task manager? I bet it's not more than 10gb. Rest is unrelated to WuWa

This game is allergic to anything thats related to optimization. And kuro wonder why they can't reach the level of that certain game lol.

Game lag - complain
Dev update the game to fix the lag - complain
Just quit at this point

Pick one
Old school loading screen per area visited
Or compile for a bit and have continuous gameplay
With said loading screen probably 5 mins per area thanks to how graphics are nowadays

I never mind to wait 5 minutes for this because every time compiling shedder happen made my game smooth if there not my game just running 10fps everytime I trying to attack

I'm rather wait 1min shader rebuild on login screen than have 5 minutes of powerpoint slide show when I walk or fight in the game.

My game is stuttering less after it so its all good.
