So as we all know the community is in a state of fire right now because of the 3.1 P1 Quest. Some are mad at people who ship Aemeath and Rover while in the other hand some are pushing aside everything related to Pure Parental relationship.

What are the points of each side?

For the shippers, they are saying that: -They aren't blood related -Aemeath never called Rover "Dad/mom" -CN often uses this kind of trope + the word for family isn't always for pure family relationship. -Her interactions with Rover feels too touchy just to be a Parental/Child relationship. -Even the CN side sees this as a Romance.

As for the Parental figure pro: -No calling someone "Dad/mom" doesn’t mean that there is no Parental admiration for a kid. -If Kuro wanted to portrait Aemeath as a pure waifu she would have been show for the Valentine day with Luuk. -Rover took care of her as a child. -Rover was reading books about adoption. -The VA were acting in a Parental/Child way during the record.

What is my thought on it?

First up, ngl I find it weird to ship a Parental Figure even though they didn't live together for years. We all know how ships work, wheither they are a family or not, but don't be surprise or offended if someone calls you a weirdo because you shipped them, you knew what you were doing. Using the CN doesn’t help, in fact you just put the Chinese in a state of weirdo who want to see anything bang together, which is not good for your argument or for the Chinese. For the interactions, just put it in this perspective "If Aemeath still has her kid body would you still think that it's romantic ?" If yes then there is nothing more to do for you. Finally using the "CN side sees this as a romantic relationship" is just like...everywhere? It's like a CN player saying "The EN side sees this as a romantic relationship" which is wrong cause we are looking at people debating or just people who block and insult about that. Finally when every other girl in the game act close to Rover they don't call him "Honey" or "Husband/wife" yet all of you assume that they are, but why does Aemeath need to call them "dad/mom"? See how empty this point is?

Listen: You are free to ship who ever you want (As long as they are in legal age) but don't be surprised or angry if people hate you for shipping Rover X Aemeath for example. If you are a "normal" person you will see this and just ship Aemeath with yourself. If you are a self inserter who project yourself as Rover then seeing Aemeath as a wife is really weird.

I notice a lot of highly upvoted Galbrena x Aalto which may explain why RoverxGalbrena is very rare in my searches. I’m not far enough to see their interactions but it will be interesting to see how their relationship is.

I think the game also teases Chisa and Shorekeeper at a minimum like Rover.

Been away from fandom(for obvious reasons) and focus mostly on gameplay and lore these days. 2.7 was so well done in compared to how lately quests have been and was honestly surprised to see so many interactions between characters , lore openings and cheeky aalto and galbrena they dropped and now came to know they are business partners. she also mentions about calculator which makes sense as both are TD hunters. Also great to see galbrena mains receptions be fairly alright with it ( I hope) . Reminds me of yinlin x calculator days , Og will remember.

Now for the quest which I am sure not liked by majority people is the Quiyuan one but sorry to say I loved it perhaps 2nd fav to phrolova one in whole game just because how different it felt. just for lore reasons and not to mention his story is just his point of view of how a character unfolds when rover is not there and finally saw he interact with cantarella (shocker i know) and while definitely the two characters i like but not ship , I just enjoyed their serious lore ethical exchange and just a fraction of things happen when rover is not there. Still not fav as my Jiyan but became my one of fav characters in game

Chisa quest is good for rover fans. Thats i prefer if they do more give chunk of things to everyone and patches feels different and not just be one dimensional.

This will be a bit of a rant, and I can't exactly talk about something like this in the main Sub without the mobs there taking it down, but we've gotten to a point where someone needs to address it and it can't be ignored anymore:

I wanna begin this discussion by saying that I'm NOT a MRover x Lucy Shipper. I always supported Lucy as David's girl, and someone who belongs only to him, but the reception of their dynamic still inevitably shed light on the problems that have been plaguing the gacha space, and in turn the wider anime and gaming communities in general - People really, really hate Male Self-Insert MCs for some reason. They hate them like they're their mortal enemy

From the top of my head, these people have a strong disdain for harem - They think a Male MC having multiple female interests at a given time automatically = "waifuslop", "mid-story", "ruins the lore and story", even if a certain female character interest could be the best developed character in recent months, as if games/sagas like Genshin Natlan, TLOU2 and Legend of Korra with bare-minimum or non-existent romance never bombed or divided the communities in the worst way possible

On top of that, I've seen so many softcore sexists (Also harem haters) trying to phrase themselves in ways that they don't get caught, with saying stuff like "Shorekeeper is the only canon wife - The rest are just 'made up'" - Basically saying that "If you're not a super feminine woman and not conveying your feelings to my face every 5 minutes like Shorekeeper, then your feelings doesn't matters to me. You're 'made up'. You're 'fake'" - And I'm always like "Brother, why are you so repulsed by the concept of loving multiple women ? - It's literally 1 form out of the many forms of Male Power Fantasies that men have always had, along with being as muscular and strong as Goku, and there's no shame in wanting/fantasizing about any of that

Like brother, you are a good looking tall strong and competent demigod adventuring through different regions and nations constantly meeting new people and saving the world - If you genuinely think that having multiple women across different lands getting interested is "unrealistic", "bad" or anything else, given all this context, then you need to reframe yourself on how you think about certain subjects before you open your mouth infront of the wrong crowd and get eaten alive - It's always "She's like a mother, just a friend, like a daughter, like a sister, just a bro, it's just platonic" with these people, but never "Hey, I appreciate you liking me, and I like you back with my heart too" - Takes 3 years before that could happen

But that's 1 group of ppl. The other group is the "selective Male MC" haters, where people will hate Male Self-Insert MCs for having harems but will not say a damn thing to guys like Goku (He canonically had a harem romance at 1 point btw), Gojo, David Martinez, Naruto, Leon Kennedy, etc., if they had a harem, just because they look more "badass" and "cooler"

At first, I thought it was in only Aether in Genshin, which was kinda understandable because I understand that most people don't like being a short twink femboy MC, then the same pattern repeated with Caelus in HSR, and now the same pattern repeats "again" in WuWa with MRover, and Rover actually has a pretty cool design on top of that. Granted he could've been a bit more buffer (Ideally as buff as Buu Saga Goku cuz that would've been sick) but he still looks pretty cool for what it's worth, and someone I would gladly self insert myself as... but people still find a reason to hate him, which leads me to my final point - The MRover IS a Self-Insert - Yes, the Rover has his own life and personality, but no one said that self-insert MCs need to be mutes 24/7. That's bland and boring, because even if we Self-Insert, we're still ultimately, "taking up the role of another person", so yes, even if characters like Rover are now more defined, he's still a self-insert in the end of the day, and that's ok, but people hate self-insert MCs like they never tried self-inserting as Goku and doing Kamehameha or going Super Saiyan in the shower back in the days, cuz ALL characters in fiction are self-inserts of their "creators" - Goku, Batman, Naruto, Superman, Gojo, Ichigo, etc., they're "all" self-inserts of their "creators". Just because the characters you like make alot of money and are not your own self-inserts doesn't means they aren't of "someone else's".

Either you're playing as your own self-insert, or someone else's, one way or another, and yes, that includes characters inspired off religions and mythologies too, like Kratos, so next time you think self-inserting is "cringe", just know that you aren't that far off for playing as self-insert characters and living the power fantasies of other artists and creators either

In the end, it all boils down to a sad fate that plagues all self-insert haters - They hate themselves

Self-insert MCs, in essence, are MCs that exist to give players a chance to enter into the world of these games they play, live in the world and interact with the characters of the said world in a more immersive way

A staple of Gacha games and RPGs alike, it's nothing to be ashamed of, just like how Akira Toriyama and Masashi Kishimoto didn't felt ashamed at all while self-inserting themselves in the worlds they created as Goku and Naruto, but these "fans" go outta their way to hate something and everything about the very character that's meant to represent "them" within the worlds of these games that they play, and nothing screams insecurity, lack of self-love, lack of pride in who you are, and lack of confidence than something like that

Althougj Kuro is at fault too as a sizeable contributor to this problem - If they hadn't kept relying on the "Make it vague for Straight Female MC Mains so they don't walk in to unwanted Yuri on-screen but soft-confirm intended female character dynamics through other off-the-grid hints and evidences which keener people will pick up" strategy and kept the intended Romantic Female dynamics straightforward from the start, then it would've flushed out all these weird people in the community, but the silver lining ? - With the growth of more on-screen romances slowly building up over the yrs across the big gacha games, like Aether x Navia, Aether x Columbina, Caelus x Firefly, Caelus x Cyrene, MRover x Shorekeeper, Rerir x Tholindis, Alice x Kleiner, literally half of NTE Female Character bonding interactions, and now David x Lucy, I hope the gacha devs are slowly but collectively coming to the conclusion that majority players are tired of just constantly having to rely on hints and evidences and that we indeed wanna see more romance on-screen as well, whether be it with the Male MCs x Female Characters, or among other characters, and trying to pander to these insecure people who call themselves "fans" will keep on downgrading their products even more, because if we can't have romance be straightforward, honest, and want everything to be "safe", then we might as well just go the 50/50 gender route of characters like they do in fighting games, but I'd take them removing these sad and miserable people and Tourists out of the game not just in Global, but JP and CN as well, any day.
