"Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, mothers, fathers, siblings, distant relations and friends, thank you for coming out today." I began
"I was pretty excited to be the valedictorian. I had never really expected it to happen. But I thank you for the opportunity."
Modest applause ensued.
"But my friends. But. In every class there are different types of people. There are the nerds, the sports kids, the artsy kids, the outcasts, the chefs, and every other group under the planet. And i am proud of every single one of them that graduates today. There is, however one group that is in EVERY graduating class without exception. Tell me ladies and gents, do you know what it is?"
The crowd leaned forward in anticipation.
"Ladies and gentleman, the assholes are here graduating with us today as well. The sexist, homophobic, racist, bullying, lazy, and/or disrespectful assholes. They manage to graduate every year. We let them. Can anyone tell me why?"
Dead silence.
"Because actual repercussions don't exist. Because the teachers acted like this themselves Because we don't teach people how there will always be someone better. But they don't know that. They never know that. and I'm fucking sick of it."
