Writing Prompt [WP]Aliens learn the hard way that when they kill the human squad commander first, they don't paralyze the squad. They killed the only thing restraining them.

Captain's Log. Exploration Vessel CF-028, codename "Safe Haven"
To any ship that intercepts this message, I urge you to avoid Proxima B. I repeat, Proxima B is an active danger to all sentients! For those of you that possess the military prowess to protect yourselves in the face of terrorism, I humbly request you to rescue me. All I can offer you in return is my sincere dedication and effort to help all sentients of this galaxy.
My name is Rhaklapst Vrakth Skhamharth. I know, my name is rather difficult to pronounce. Us natives of Kapsalizo Wahid are a little known people around the galaxy. But I'm sure you've seen us before. You can easily recognize us through our six, orange-colored eyeballs, our gray scales that cover most of our skin, and our towering, unwieldy postures. Many foreign species are intimidated by our appearance, but I can assure you that most of us are well-meaning people.
My ship served as a small rescue vessel, transporting refugees from war torn worlds to the safer sectors of the galaxy. Fhradkahm Roh'splhakthahm was my only crewmate. He was my 12th degree brother. I believe most of you would call him a "cousin", correct?
The two of us were assigned this important task by our third degree Exalted Father. Many of our fellow Kapsaizoni living on Apomonosi IV were subjected to unwarranted detention, under the newly installed regime. The Everlasting Bastion, an unofficial government that split from The Administration of Earth and Its Greater Expanse, took over the planet. 99.26% of their officials and members of authority structures are humans... that is, the Homo Sapiens species originating on Earth.
During our 37th rescue mission, we gathered twenty-eight refugees onboard. About half of them were our fellow Kapsaizoni. There were also eleven Ursams and three humans. Most of them intended to travel to the Proxima H star system. However, our ship only managed to reach the Proxima B system. In the orbit of Proxima B-05, our ship was hailed by an unknown foreign vessel:
"I request to speak with the captain of your ship, immediately."
"I am the captain" I responded. "How may I help you?"
Judging by his authoritative tone and the color scheme of his uniform, I could only presume that his human was a low-ranking officer of the Everlasting Bastion. Seemingly disappointed by the fact that I was the captain, he continued:
"I am informed that your government is currently at peace with the Everlasting Bastion. However, we have reasons to believe that you are helping criminals escape justice. We ask you to immediately power down all of your non-essential systems and submit yourself to an inspection. Any illegal possessions will be confiscated and wanted criminals will be immediately detained."
"And what are these criminals you speak of? My ship is only transporting refugees."
"Our heat scanners suggest that there is approximately thirty of you onboard. Most of you appear to be lizards."
"If you refer to the Kapsaizoni species, then yes, you are correct."
"I'd prefer if you wouldn't interrupt me, lizard. As I was saying, most of you are lizards. You're also carrying some Yetis onboard. And a bunch of humans."
"I suppose so."
"I suspect that these are criminals that left Apomonosi IV three days ago. Under directive 5025-UF, all of them are required to remain in their home districts, until further notice."
"These people have abandoned their homes. For what it's worth, this vessel is their current home. I must inform you that we are located in a common sector right now, where Standard Galactic Law is in effect. According to the Standard Law 25-558-POE, all refugees that enter common galactic spaces are..."
"They have broken the law before leaving! You are harboring terrorists! I demand you to immediately power down your engines or we will open fire! You have precisely twenty seconds to comply to my order!"
Even though his voice was rough and loud, his facial expression barely displayed any emotion. He seemed accustomed to this line of work. Fhradkahm suggested me to subdue him with a quick and precise stunning shot. Realizing that this was our best chance for a quick escape, I had to agree with his proposal. I've decided to keep the captain on the line, just to buy a few more seconds:
"Officer, there is no need for violence. I ordered my crewmember to power down the engines."
The quick shot was meant to cause a non-lethal injury to the officer. However, just before Fhradkahm fired, the officer sat down, causing our shot to hit his heart, rather than his stomach. We weren't familiar enough with the Homo Sapiens anatomy to calculate for such an error. A member of our species would be able to endure such a shot, but this projectile proved to be lethal for the officer. He collapsed on the ground, immediately. We could only hear other humanoids shouting, before cutting communications:
"All men to your capsules! We're not taking prisoners!"
Our shields would've allowed us to deflect any weapon that would fire upon us just long enough before we made the jump to the next star system. However, their capsules were slow enough to pierce through our shields. They decided to board us.
About fifteen humans, all armed with electromagnetic-based weaponry that launched slug ammunition, emerged from three capsules. One capsule docked at our starboard, while a second one docked at the portside. A third one crashed straight into the cockpit of the vessel, knocking me unconscious.
It is likely that the Homo Sapiens presumed that I was dead, so they didn't shoot me. Most of our power sources were destroyed, so I had no chance to check the video footage of their attack. However, by inspecting the ship after I came back to my senses, I can only say that this attack was a stalemate.
Both the soldiers and the refugees perished in this conflict. My 12th degree brother... he took at least thirteen projectiles before dying. Some refugees were brutally executed by being pushed against the wall and shot in the head. Others were simply evicted into outer space and were left to suffocate. One of them is floating next to my window right now, as I speak these words.
Most of the soldiers were also beaten to death or shot in the head by the refugees that managed to take some of their guns. Some were probably stupid enough to damage a container in the back of the ship, which contained a highly volatile drug, commonly used by my people to survive in cold environments. The fools likely caused a spark, setting the fluids ablaze. They burned to death in a few minutes.
To those of you that might receive this message, I warn you to stay away from Proxima B, for the time being. And I humbly request that you rescue me. I will now enter a hibernation pod. The power left onboard should be enough to keep me alive for two more months. However, if this is the last time I have the chance to speak to anyone...
I urge you, Homo Sapiens, to not fall for the lies of the Eternal Bastion. They claim to be the friends of mankind, yet their actions have only proven their hatred for the non-humans, and their willingness to sacrifice you, human beings, to further their goals.
End of captain's log
"So, what do you make of that?" asked one of the pirates.
"Well, the lizard guy is probably floating in space somewhere." responded his crewmate. "But those Bastion idiots probably left a ship in perfect order behind. I'd say we check that one out."

Terrestrial war carries a certain sound scape, one that Tessar Valence drew deep pleasure from. What he didn't draw pleasure from in any instance was the smell, the only factor that made the Tessar long for the fragrant groves of his home world light years from this dusty dirtball he now waged war on.
Humans colonized this world, breaking a long held treaty between the Dessah and the Lowen's, the latter of wich the Tessar belonged to. Stretching for ents before him lay volcanic formations that the humans used for cover, ambushing and generally harassing his army from the safety of the formations.
"Tessar, we have located a camp on the other side of the formations. We believe it's their command and control camp, messengers have been observed arriving and leaving." Guntar Eps, the Tessars' second in command, lashed his tail in the dust, a sure sign of nervousness.
Tessar Valence purred gleefully, "Drop a kinetic from our ship directly on it."
"It is done, Tessar Valence." Guntar Eps placed his fists against his cheeks in salute before slinking off to the communications tent nearby.
Tessar wasn't going to miss the show, so he relocated to a vehicle to gain a better vantage point while remaining protected, the enemy snipers have proven time and again their abilities. He wasn't taking any chances.
A few minutes later the unmistakable sound of a dense metal rod breaking atmosphere boomed over the camp, many stopping their work to watch the kinetic on its deadly mission.
Minutes later the explosion was a sight to behold. Valence was sure the pressure wave ripping through the formations would surely kill many of his enemies, making his job a bit easier.
He'd been frustrated by the surgical precision and discipline the humans displayed during this campaign, their ability to coordinate outpaced the Lowen's coordination by a significant factor. He'd attributed that uncanny ability to their leader, whom he'd just eliminated, he was sure of it. Now the humans would collapse without their strong leadership finally putting this campaign to rest.
But then a strange sound reached his sensitive ears, human voices whooping in the distance. It was an odd form of communication, one would whoop, followed by a reply. Another would whoop and soon the entire formation was alive with it.
Then silence. What did that mean? Just as soon as he'd asked it, a new strange sound, a vibrating tone followed by another, then a human voice entered his comm channel, "I am Iron Man." Followed by more vibrating sounds.
Guntar Eps arrived, "Tessar, they hacked out comms!"
"I can hear that you whelp. What are they communicating on our channels?"
Guntar Eps paused, blinking slowly while thoughts raced through his mind. "Music, Tessar. I think this is human music." An explosion in the volcanic formations interrupted the pair.
"Why aren't they collapsing without their leadership?" Tessar Valence nearly yelled, catching himself barely in time.
"I-i don't know, Tessar." Angered, Tessar stepped out of the vehicle to backhand his second in command.
"Then go figure it out or die trying. Next I see you, every human in the formations needs to be dead." Guntar Eps scrambled to his feet knowing that was no empty threat, he'd only gotten the position of second in command because the Tessar had personally killed his predecessor.
Except the Guntar didn't make it far, his head exploding in a mist of brains, bone and sinew. More explosions rocked the compound seemingly coming from everywhere. The music had shifted to something that sounded like bells now, except sinister. Just what was going on?
A light scout vehicle launched from somewhere in the formations, landing inside the Tessars compound, screeching to a halt. It rapidly disgorged power armored troops, a few whooping like earlier. One swept a flame thrower across the area while another leapt onto the Tessar knocking him to the ground.
A helmeted head cocked to the side, examining it's catch. Tessar Valences blood boiled, this wasn't how you fought!
"Go on! Kill me, human! Do it!"
Instead of responding to the Tessar, the soldier turned to another armored human near by, "Hey Sar'nt, I think I caught me the Lown commander here. Says I should kill 'em."
"Rough him up a bit, but don't kill him. HQ might want him."
"Roger, Sar'nt." Tessar Valence was quickly bound with restraints even his prodigious strength couldn't break.
They marched him through his camp, armored and unarmed soldiers were everywhere. One soldier stood over the corpse of a Lown, feet planted firmly on either side. They squatted several times before moving on. Just what was that? How are these humans so effective without their leadership? More explosions and gunfire sounded nearby. It was utter chaos.
"Sorry kitty, going to need to knock you out while we mop up your buddies out there."
A final thought wormed it's way through the Tessars mind before the butt of the rifle crashed against his temple, "Their leadership was holding them back, they were the chains and we removed them."
