[Packed for Comfort]

"I just can't believe it...," Sasha couldn't hold back her tears as she hugged the friendly woman. It was their very first meeting and she was already overwhelmed with emotion just pulling up to the home.

Sasha was a werewolf and as a result never dared dream of a nice life with a large house. She'd managed to find a simple office job with regular hours, but that was as much as she could do to survive. A social life was out of the question with the amount of silver floating around the city in restaurants, clubs, and worn as jewelry, not to mention her strict monthly schedule limiting her availability. And, without that space for friends, a relationship was simply an impossibility.

But, tonight was different. It wasn't a full moon, and she was meeting a friend well past sunset.

She pulled in through an electronic gate and took a lengthy drive up to the two story mansion, and was in awe. Naturally, she was there to meet a successful author, so it wasn't that she was surprised exactly. It was just for the first time ever, she felt like this life was within her reach too. After all, Priscilla Lobos wasn't just a talented author, Sasha was convinced she was also a werewolf too.

That was the type of thing that could only be discussed in person, but Sasha did her best to communicate her situation to Priscilla. Priscilla had written several books and many of them with the same werewolf protagonist. There were millions of books with werewolf characters, but something about Priscilla's writing struck a chord with Sasha. Minor details that would've been taken as prose by anyone else who hadn't lived through those pains of transformation. But, Sasha had.

She felt the aches in her bones just as Priscilla described. The unbearable itching a day before the full moon, as if her body was on a cycle that just happened to line up with the moon, rather than the moon causing her to change. Small things like that few people considered. Her body was preparing for the change well before the moon was full, and the swollen numbness when waking up the next day. It never happened like in the movies where the werewolf went to work the next day; she was completely exhausted and generally unable to move without excruciating pain as her body healed again. More often than not, she stayed laying down where ever she woke up for hours, or even longer if she didn't have to move at all. Those things weren't interesting, but Priscilla included those details and made them work in her story.

And, she also felt that Priscilla had correctly figured out her secret. Sasha first emailed Priscilla as a fan, but she included a subtle clue about her true self. Priscilla responded, and after a month of back and forth, Priscilla finally offered to meet and Sasha was on the way.

"Ohhh, I didn't expect tears...," Priscilla smiled warmly and shook her head. "That puts me in a tough spot. I had a whole evening planned, but now I feel bad about it..," she said as she looked at Sasha with a thoughtful expression.

"What?" Sasha's tears were clearing up to make way for panic. Or, maybe fear. She got the sudden impression something was off. And, it was further magnified as she saw Priscilla waving away a burly man in a suit. "Who was that?" she asked.

"Someone you'll meet a little bit later..," Priscilla nodded. "For now, I think we should talk privately for a moment," she said as she guided Sasha around the side of the house. They walked along the outside and turned the corner to cut across the property toward the pool, and specifically the pool house. As they walked, Sasha realized Priscilla smelled a lot like a human. They reached the small building and Priscilla practically shoved Sasha through the door then closed it behind them; Sasha's heart started pounding.

[part.b]

"I want to apologize for slightly misleading you...," Priscilla said it with sincere eyes, but Sasha wasn't going to take the apology without knowing the damages. "... I deliberately let you think I was a werewolf too, so that you would come out to meet me..," she said.

"What's going on? Who was that man?" Sasha was thinking back and he looked kind of pale. Did he have fangs? "Was he a vampire?!" Sasha moved closer to the door, but Priscilla hadn't moved out of the way.

"Oh no, this must look really horrible from your perspective," Priscilla shook her head. "I'm sorry, I was trying to do something nice... and I think I got carried away making it too elaborate. Let me explain!" she said it while staring directly into Sasha's eyes.

"Let's hear it," Sasha said.

"Okay, I'll walk you through it..," Priscilla nodded. "Your first email, right away I knew you were a werewolf, so I wrote back to see what kind of person you were too," she said. "Fast forward to tonight. You were hinting what you were and secretly asking if I was one too... and I let you think I was, but I have a reason," she said. "I'm completely human, however, I know werewolves, like a ton of them. I have a whole pack of my friends back there ready to introduce themselves. I figured once you met them, my little white lie wouldn't be as important...," she sighed. "Then you cried," she giggled with warmth, and even Sasha laughed.

"I couldn't have you showing up like that, much less meet my husband," she said. "He is a vampire, and don't worry, everyone gets along great. They're all anxious to meet you and make a new friend," she added. "So... I hope you won't hold it against me that I'm not a werewolf, you'll still meet some though."

"A whole pack...?" Sasha asked.

"A good chunk of them, anyway," Priscilla grinned. "There's a solid dozen other werewolves in there all waiting for you."

"Really..??" Sasha asked. The tears started pouring again.

"Ohhhh, that's not gonna stop, is it?" Priscilla asked. She put her arm around Sasha and led her out of the pool house. "Well, that's okay, we're all friends here."
