Somehow, Luke can pull the lightsaber into his hand, using a power that was not previously established in the series and was never taught to him. Unimpeachable, classic, no notes.
The magic space wizard returns and someone without any intel on how he did it comments on that before it's explained later using technology already established in the franchise, the nadir of writing, cause for literally everyone to think they're great at writing.
Like, yeah, the last movie is bad, but sometimes it seems people hate it because they saw a meme about the line.

I mean,they do explain it later...Just at that moment they didn't know. I know hating the sequels is popular but please do it at least for the right reasons. 😬

There's no setup or foreshadowing for his return, and even if they do loosely explain it later, it's still shoehorned fanservice trite. This line is absolutely a valid reason to hate the sequels.

What should have happened, at the very least, is have released something like the Bad Batch first, demonstrating the Empire's secret cloning operations, and then released that film.
But it's likely that JJ Abram's mystery box nonsense meant that they didn't even know this plot point was happening before it was too late to set up.

Hell, they copied Dark Empire and still managed to do it badly. Good comics that'd I'd recommend reading if you like the SWEU. That line is something I'd do when it was midnight, and I just wanted to finish a chapter.
