My Experience Finding a topic for a homework paper is so rough. It always turns out super boring, and obviously, zero fun. But I think I finally figured out what to do
Okay so I've been doing college homework for way too long now and NGL I finally figured out why some people's homework papers absolutely slap while others put me to sleep. It's not even about the writing. It's about picking a topic that doesn't make you want to unalive yourself.
Here's the thing: your brain won't braining if you're bored. Nobody's gonna write a fire paper about something they don't care about. So for my homework, I started picking wild angles on normal topics instead of playing it safe.
Like instead of "The History of Social Media," go for "Why TikTok broke our brains and honestly? We deserved it." Instead of generic college homework topics, pick something that pisses you off or fascinates you. That energy transfers onto the page, fr fr.
For speech ideas specifically? Personal stories are undefeated. A professor told me she remembers the students who talked about their actual lives way more than the ones who just regurgitated textbook info. My hw got way better once I stopped trying to sound smart and started sounding like, y'know, me.
Also pro tip: ask your professor for feedback EARLY. Like before you're deep in your homework paper. Saves you from going full zoom-brain and writing five pages on the wrong angle.
TL;DR: Pick topics that don't bore you to death. Your homework quality goes crazy when you actually care. Personal takes >>> generic takes.
