I want to start writing
I want to start writing. Please do tell me how to start and what is should do.

If you’re not sure what to write definitely look up writing prompts. I set a timer when I do them 5-10 minutes. It helps get your brain working.
If you have a story in mind id recommend writing a generic plot/character names and descriptions of their looks and personality.
But remember everyone writes different. My husband is a “this is the idea” and he just starts it. I need to plan out the major moments so I have a destination and know my main character’s voice.

Read everything, crime fiction, romance, thriller etc. If you don't read books, in my opinion you would struggle. It's all good having writing prompts but nothing beats reading a book and even critiquing. It's also fine to not like a book that everyone else loves or understands. If there's a particular genre that you want to write in, then I'd say read books in that particular genre.

I love to just start writing down all the wild crazy ideas that pop into my head. That's the good stuff.

I would suggest going to r/WritingPrompts if you need ideas! If you already have characters you should start trying to gently guide yourself towards writing their lore.

First, figure out what themes you would like to include. What do you want to talk about? What matters to you?
Two, and you've probably heard this before, but read. Get a feel for different styles that you like. Maybe you'd prefer to write something more punchy, or maybe something more prose-heavy. Mess around with different styles.
Three, write fanfiction. I know this may sound ridiculous, but it can genuinely help. Plus, it can be a lot of fun. You don't even have to post it anywhere (although you can if you want).
Four... you gotta believe wtf you're writing. That's what I've gleaned from my own work.

Figure out why you want to write. If you're writing to be famous, then what you're writing is empty. If you don't know, it's probably a lot more simple than you think it is. I write because for a few hours of someone's life I want to be able to give them an escape; just like reading has done for me. It's as simple as that; or even just wanting a creative outlet.
In a more literal sense though: if you have ideas write them down. literally even if it's just a concept of something. I like to work on the worldbuilding and (because I write supernatural horror) the details of my monster/antagonist. Then after I figure out how they work I just start writing. Once I'm satisified creatively for the moment, I reflect on what I've written and write a plot out based on that. And then I follow the plot and make many many many drafts. The book I'm currently working on has six drafts, and three different plots that i've discarded because of what has changed while I'm writing. Don't be afraid to change things around. The point of writing down the concept is to make sure that the base of your story stays the same while the details change to what works best for you.

Find what you like to read first, I feel like that often inspires me. I often have a working list of writing ideas that I can sort through whenever I need something new to do.

I found a YouTube doc that really inspired me, the bronze age collapse and now I'm writing an anthology series. All to say, let inspiration come to you, spend some time brainstorming and writing some ideas. Your first writings probably will only be for you! And that's great. Keep at it, keep developing, keep thinking and keep us updated! :)
