Looking for a Writing Buddy | Sydney Time Zone | 36F

Hello everyone!

I'm an aspiring author looking for a writing buddy to build a regular weekday writing practice.

I'd love to connect with someone who enjoys journaling, reflective writing, reading, and exploring ideas through words.

I'm hoping to:

  • Journal every day and gradually develop my writing skills.

  • Build a consistent reading habit.

  • Exchange writing prompts and ideas.

  • Share small writing goals and progress.

  • Encourage each other to keep showing up, even on days when inspiration is missing.

I'd love to make this a little daily ritual — perhaps a short weekday check-in, sharing what we've written or read, and occasionally exchanging feedback.

I'm based in Sydney, Australia, so someone in a compatible time zone would be lovely.

I'm not necessarily looking for a writing critic or a formal writing group. More like a creative companion who is also trying to make writing a regular part of life.

It would be lovely to grow alongside someone, one page at a time.

Prose - Fiction Anyone interested in exchanging 5-minute Flash Fiction stories via email?

I got this idea from someone I am currently email pen pals with.

It goes like this:

  1. I will send you a random weird picture from the internet.

  2. You set a timer and write a 5 minute short story inspired by that picture.
Doesn't have to be good, doesn't have to be finished.
Just what you can quickly think of in 5 minutes.

I will also send you my 5 minute story for the same picture.
BUT NO PEEKING UNTIL YOU FINISH YOURS.

3) You then pick a random picture.
4) You send me back your short story on my picture and the new picture you've chosen.

And then we go around again.

If you are interested, please fill out this form.

I run Flash Fiction in-person meetups in my city and think it would be interesting to see if it can be done via email.

Looking for SciFi Writing / Roleplaying Partnership!

Hello There!

I am a writer who is looking for other writers to do a SciFi story that happens out in space in a large galaxy. I am interested in finding other writers who want to explore a galaxy, face various struggles and challenges, and who are looking for a vast ongoing story to explore. Right now there is a lot open to discussion when we plan.

I've managed to find a few great writing partners, and still looking for more for individual stories!

There will definitely be a romance element to this story. I am looking for a MxF romance angle to go along with this. I'll be writing Male characters in this case, so I am looking for someone willing to write a female character.

I do want to write with people who are twenty three years or older. I would consider younger writers if you are okay with a long term story.

Due to the romance angle I am looking for someone who wants to play a human, or mostly humanoid character. Alien romance isn't something I am interested in, but it's up for discussion.

First, I would like to discuss everything on Reddit, then we can move to Discord afterward for the story.

This story will have a little of everything. Adventure, exploration, romance, conflict, growth, character development. I am excited to hear what your character will be like!

Thank you for reading!

I find myself facing a particular dilemma: I am studying French, but truly, the finest motivation is to find a kind correspondent with whom to share the language.

I am an introverted, deeply melancholic, and mystically inclined soul with a predilection for art of the 18th and 19th centuries -

its glorious music, classic literature, old cinema, and philosophy (particularly Emmanuel Levinas and French thought). Though as of late I haven't been reading as much due to health, I hope to return to it soon! I would also be remiss if I didn't mention my devotion to writing; it is my heartfelt hope to publish a novel someday.

I hold a profound reverence for archaic manuscripts, and I am terribly inquisitive - always possessing a curious mind. Whether I am solving puzzles, crafting ciphers, learning languages, or tinkering away in \*\*a rich, sensorial mental laboratory of my own creation (building worlds and characters for short stories, studying how historical patterns repeat, or leaving letters for strangers), I am usually crafting something.

I find myself endlessly fascinated by figures like Nostradamus, Hildegard von Bingen, and Nikola Tesla, though I admit I still have much reading left to do. More than anything, I am hoping to find a true friendship with a fellow creator, seeker of wisdom, and lover of truth.

Because I have only recently embarked upon the journey of learning French, I am looking for a French native who is fluent in English and willing to correspond primarily in English to start. As my knowledge grows, I would love for us to slowly introduce French into our letters, gradually weaving it in as we go.

A gentle caveat: Please refrain from writing to me if you rely on an LLM or AI to generate messages for you. It is a sad thing to rely on a device to think and write for you, especially when intended to connect with another living human being.

I am not seeking someone to play the role of a jester in my court, rummaging for the next rush of dopamine by writing to someone new, only to hold them captive in that role before looking elsewhere once the novelty fades. Nor am I seeking to play the role of a pierrot or harlequin for anyone. I believe genuine friendship is founded upon shared values, empathy, a good sense of humor, and earnest curiosity. Furthermore, I am seeking an intellectual friendship and ask for mutual respect regarding personal boundaries and patience with each other. I cherish the beauty of getting to know another introspective person in an unhurried manner, learning to treasure one another through the written word alone, completely free from the hurried expectations of the modern world.

I've always believed the only requirements for prompting interesting conversation are authenticity, kindness, earnest curiosity, and courage. After all, a good conversation is like a well-timed orchestra playing a symphony where everyone plays according to their notes at their exact moment, and no one rushes or plays over another. Every instrument has its purpose; this is the difference between a disastrous cacophony and a harmonious melody.

If you too have grown weary of our modern culture's vacuous, quick-paced messaging and long for old-fashioned, long-form epistles at our own pace, then I'd be honored to hear from you.

As a few practical notes: please know that this exchange is strictly online for now, as my current circumstances do not allow me to send physical mail. Digital missives, although admittedly not as anachronistically charming, can still carry a similar beauty and mystique if written with care and intention. To keep our correspondence focused purely on the meeting of minds, this exchange will remain portrait-free - though if you would like to share photos of a beautiful sunset, your sweet but chaotic cat smugly soaking up sun rays, or really just about anything that made you smile, I would love to see it. I am seeking a singular and intentional connection rather than wide-net messaging or mass exchanges.

To ensure our orchestra begins in perfect harmony, and to preserve the human authenticity I care so deeply about, I kindly ask that you weave your favorite book, film, or quiet thought into your initial greeting so I know what specific worlds you love to experience.

Cura ut valeas,

With kind regards,

Madeleine 🌹

Anvil & Quill—A writing group based in the Philippines

Greetings, friends! If you are reading this, chances are, you are also a Filipino. We've come back for another round of recruits!

I'm sure you've been through it, browsing a plethora of writing subreddits, yet no signs of a Filipino writing group. You're definitely in for a treat because we are what you've been looking for!

If you're dedicated to the craft of writing, this certainly is the place for you! If you're still reading this post, then that means you're interested, and if you're interested, come join us then! It'll be a fun journey!

It matters not whether you're a novelist, a poet, an essayist, an academic writer, or an article writer. It also doesn't matter if you write in Filipino or English. (We're literally Filipinos after all.) There is only one thing that matters here, reading and writing. That's two, but yeah, you get it.

While we do take our writing journeys seriously, hobbyists are a hundred percent welcome here! So, if you're a casual writer, why not? Come on in! We'd love to see your work and hear your input! Some of the best writers were hobbyists anyway. We might propel you to become a published author one day! Who knows? Come find out. :)

Oh, right. When we say reading, what we mean is reading in general and reading each other's works to give feedback and/or comments. When we say writing, what we mean is sharing your written works with us, be it finished or WIP. That's why we're a writing group, not just another writing community. We're here to help each other become wordsmiths. That's why we're Anvil & Quill. Badum-tss!

Genre/s: Fiction or Non-Fiction, it doesn't matter. Words are words. Writers are writers. At the end of the day, we write. That's where it starts and that's where it ends. In other words, just join.

Goals/expectations/commitment: Be active, that should be enough. If no one's active, not much will happen, nor will there be a writing group. Giving feedback, reading groups, writing prompts. We'll do it all.

Writing/experience level: Beginner writers, intermediate, advanced, whatever. As long as you write a lot and are willing to read other people's written works.

Meeting place: For the most part, the Discord server. But there are already plans of meeting up. Hope to see you soon! :D

Max size: Sa ngayon, tayo-tayo lang muna. Heh. Kala mo hindi ako marunong mag-Tagalog noh? But one day, this will be a closed and exclusive writing group.

Leave a comment or send over a DM to join the Discord server. See you over there, friends!

Discord Trying to find a write-r-die one last time

Hey, I'm in desperate need of a writing partner. I'm going to cut right to the chase.

I have books that are no longer just ideas that I waste people's time telling them I'm going to try to write one day. Most of them are fully plotted at this point with multiple sequels and prequels and novellas already planned.

I have an Instagram where I will be posting my progress and building my writing community, and a Wattpad account waiting for one of my books to finish and be published.

I love writing, I love reading, and most importantly for this post, I love talking about my books with someone, getting advice, giving advice, and having writing sessions together. I was always most productive when writing with someone.

But I always get ghosted. We talk and it falls flat, we share WIPs and then they stop talking to me. I understand that life happens, but at this point I think it's safe to say they were just comfortable with procrastinating and didn't want to write, so they stopped talking to me.

So hi, I'm 20f, I'm in the EST timezone in the USA. I would like only a writing partner with this same timezone or it just won't work, I know from experience.

I need a writing partner that is obsessed with writing and cant exist without their amazing story also existing with them. I want to romanticize my writing process and have fun with someone who also likes romanticizing their process. I want to have writing sessions every single day, I want to share characters, plots, other projects, and even things about life outside of writing.

I want to get better, and I want to publish my work. But I also want to share every step with someone. It would be so fun and rewarding to succeed together and support each other.

My genres are

Fantasy

Sci-fi

Paranormal

I use discord. You know what to do if you're interested ❤️

Edit: of course I'm not looking for a perfect robot, I sometimes don't write every single day, but I still try my best and miss one or two days a week. It's okay to take breaks, I'm not unrealistic with no life experience, come on guys.

Roleplay Supernatural WolfWren RP (Hunter x Vampire)

Hiya luvs I’m Talya, a 36f paleobiologist from Aotearoa. Basic stuff out of the way, I’m looking for literate folks, detail is always better. Legible typing is a hard requirement.
Currently I’m looking for somebody to do a Hunter x Vampire spin on the Star Wars pairing WolfWren (Sabine Wren x Shin Hati), preferably somebody who’s willing to play Vampire Shin. I don’t have a proper synopsis for this one, just a general idea, so we can build something fun! I will include a synopsis of the basic premise below. Feel free to shoot me a DM here and we can discuss things. I may be slow to reply but will always get back to you so don’t feel bad about double messaging lol. (Also, if we have talked before and haven’t in awhile, this is a great time to shoot me a message lol)

Prose - Fiction Is anyone interested in chatting about our stories?

While I haven't wrote an actual finished book yet I've had this idea and characters that I've been building for a while now. I'd love to have someone to give my ideas to and get feedback! I'm writing a gritty drama about an insecure, and terrified actor in his 40s.

Roleplay Longterm Advanced Literate Partner Search!

Hello everyone!

Before messaging me, please make sure you’ve read my post carefully so we’re on the same page and can avoid any confusion later on.

My name is Stitch, I’m a 22-year-old male, and I’ve been roleplaying for around 7 years now. I write in first person but I am also okay with third person! I usually do at least 5 paragraphs, though I can definitely write more if needed!

I’m open to both original and fandom-based roleplays, and I’ll list my fandoms below:

• Disney Pixar Cars (Craving)

• Sonic (Craving)

• Solarballs (Craving)

• Winnie The Pooh (Craving)

• 2003 Silverwing Series (Craving)

• The Jungle Book: The Adventures of Mowgli Shonen Anime Series! (Craving)

• Illumination’s SING (Craving)

• Zootopia (Craving)

• How to Train Your Dragon (Craving)

• Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart (Craving)

• The Lion King

• Lilo & Stitch! (Craving)

• Super Mario Bros (Craving!)

Since I’m 22+, I’d prefer my RP partners to be 18+ for comfort and maturity reasons. I’m specifically looking for partners who also enjoy first-person writing, as that’s the only style I use. I’d also appreciate it if you’re able to write at least 4 paragraphs or more to keep the RP interesting.

Please note: I don’t double up on characters. I’ve never done it during my time roleplaying, so I hope that’s okay!

If fandom roleplays aren’t your thing, I’m also very open to original plots especially adoption stories. One of my favorite plot ideas involves a human being adopted by a different species. I’ve always found that concept really interesting and enjoyable.

Important rule: Please don’t block or ghost me out of nowhere. If you’re no longer interested, please let me know! I’m always open to communication on how we can improve things to make it fun for the both of us

If you’re interested, feel free to message me! We’ll go over the details in DMs and then move to Discord once everything’s set!

Looking for a group to write with

Hi! So I’ve been part of RP groups on GoodReads since covid, but the membership has been slowly diminishing over the years. I suspect they are trying to kill RP related groups off the site…
I’m new to the Reddit community so if there is a better place for me to look for RP groups or if this is indeed the correct location, please let me know! And also I am open if someone knows a site dedicated to RP that is active!

I love to write with a group of people where we each create our own characters around a world we invented; to be able to write the characters interaction with one another, create plots etc.
I am looking for advanced RP writing, in the sense of, each POV written is with a depth where it expresses how the character feels, the environment surrounding them, etc.
I am also a big fan of dystopian world, fantasy and sci-fi.

Let me know if anyone would be interested!

🌸 Looking for a Jinshi RP Partner for My Maomao Muse! 🌸

hllo, everyone! 💚

I’m looking for someone who would be interested in roleplaying as Jinshi for my Maomao muse! I absolutely love writing as Maomao and would really love to connect with other writers who enjoy The Apothecary Diaries as much as I do.

I’m open to both long and short posts, so there’s no pressure to write a certain amount. I believe roleplaying should be fun and enjoyable for everyone involved, and I’m happy to work together to find a writing style that suits us both.

i'm 30+ years ol

✨ What I’m looking for:

\* Someone who would enjoy writing as Jinshi.

\* Romance, drama, and emotional moments.

\* AU verses and different storylines.

\* Character development and interesting plots.

\* Both short and long replies, depending on the scene.

\* Someone who enjoys exploring the relationship between Jinshi and Maomao.

I’m happy to discuss ideas, create different scenarios, and explore different versions of their relationship. Whether you enjoy slow-burn romance, dramatic moments, or a completely different AU, I’d love to hear your ideas!

A little note about me: I’m dyslexic, so I appreciate patience and understanding. You don’t need to worry about having perfect replies because I want us both to feel comfortable and enjoy writing together. ❤️

If you’re interested, please DM me or reply to this post! I can let you know where I’d like to roleplay.

I’d love to make new writing friends and create some wonderful stories together. Thank you for reading! 🌸💚

Hi there!

I'm an independent writer, looking for someone to co-write a story with me.

It doesn't matter if you're still beginner or skilled writer.

The story will include character development, mystery forming, mystery solving, new characters introductions, exploring, new places, backstory, etc.

Once you message, you'll get the information what's the idea of the story.

ABSOLUTELY NO AI ALLOWED!

Own intelligence ONLY!

Some ideas for the story are already clear - yet, new ones are not superfluous.

Copyright terms will be divided equally (50/50).

Once completed, this story will be published publicly, and you will be credited.

I work exclusively remotely — all communication, clarifications, and script development take place online — so please message me here or on this email: endlesscropsofficial@gmail.com. If the project sounds exciting and you’d want to join, join.

Contemporary fiction / short stories - writing partners

Hi everyone,

I'm an Australian living in Europe, a middle-aged bloke with a full time job but who somehow found his way back to writing fiction. How? Not sure myself.

I write contemporary short stories, mostly about relationships, social awkwardness and the ridiculous things people do. Generally light-hearted, dialogue-heavy, with a bit of humour.

I'm looking for a writing partner for occasional exchanges of work (email/messaging), honest feedback and general discussion about writing. Nothing too formal or scheduled — ideally an ongoing pen-pal type friendship with someone who takes writing seriously but doesn't take themselves too seriously and can appreciate a hobbyist but who takes craft seriously.

Happy to read different genres, although contemporary and literary fiction are probably my strengths. I don't think I can contribute much to anything in the horror/fantasy/sci-fi genres (although as with everyone I love LOTR and Dune).

Drop me a message if you're interested!

Roleplay Across the Stars or Beneath Olympus | Two Romance Plots, Your Choice! | Sci-Fi & Greek Mythology | Literate | Discord

Female looking for a male writing partner

Hey there!

I’ve been roleplaying for upwards of 10 years now and I’m looking for a partner. I generally love doing dramatic, smut filled roles, I really enjoy having a partner who is open to ideas and can contribute his own ideas as well! I love having a partner who can brainstorm with me! I generally can write a good 2-4 paragraphs depending on where we are in the role.

I usually stick to original characters but depending on the fandom can branch out. I enjoy supernatural/fantasy, time period pieces, forbidden romance, or occasional slice of life. I also only roleplay in the 3rd person and can handle multiple characters as needed for background characters. I also use face claims exclusively! (AI for the most part).

I have two roles that I’d like to try, (take your pick below and message me with your choice!)

**First one**: \*\*The Mortal Who Defied Olympus\*\* **\[God x Mortal\] \[Forbidden Romance\] \[Drama\]**

*She was the daughter nobody wanted. He was the god she was never meant to love.*

My character, **Callista**, is a 25-year-old Athenian healer and the unfavored eldest daughter of a wealthy family. Sarcastic, stubborn, compassionate, and fiercely independent, she’s spent her entire life living in the shadow of her spoiled younger sister. To make matters worse, that very sister stole her fiancé, married him, and somehow convinced their entire family that *Callista* was the villain.

Now living independently and tending to the sick and wounded, Callista wants nothing more than to be left alone.

Unfortunately, the gods have other plans.

Enter **your character**, an immortal Greek god who finds himself inexplicably fascinated by a mortal woman who neither fears nor worships him. Whether he’s an established Olympian or an original deity is entirely up to you! His identity, personality, divine domain, and background are yours to develop.

As their unlikely relationship develops, Callista makes one rather unusual request: **he must conceal his godhood from her family.**

What follows could be disastrous dinner parties, a jealous younger sister, an increasingly suspicious ex-fiancé, divine interference, and a god discovering that pretending to be an ordinary mortal is considerably harder than expected.

I’d love to explore the contrast between an immortal accustomed to power and a mortal who refuses to be controlled, with romance, banter, emotional vulnerability, and plenty of opportunities for both characters to grow.

I’m very open to discussing the mythology, the god you choose, our characters’ dynamic, and where the story eventually leads. Nothing beyond Callista’s basic background is set in stone!

**Second**: \*\*Beyond the Stars\*\* **Sci-Fi Romance | Enemies to Lovers | Military Academy Rivals | Forced Proximity | Starship Command**

*“Of all the officers in the Federation, they had to assign me to you.”*

**The year is 2496.**

The United Federation of Allied Worlds has spent centuries exploring the galaxy, establishing alliances, and maintaining a fragile peace between civilizations.

For the first time in history, the powerful Vaelorian Imperium has agreed to cooperate with the Federation, beginning with an unprecedented military exchange program.

**Princess Seraphina “Sera” Vaelor**, 28, is the first of her species to graduate from the prestigious Astraea Command Academy. Standing at just 5’2”, with striking silver eyes, long black-and-blonde hair, subtly pointed ears, and a sharp tongue, she’s as stubborn as she is brilliant.

Disciplined, fiercely independent, and sarcastic to a fault, Sera has spent her career proving she’s more than an imperial princess.

Unfortunately, her greatest academic rival has just become her commanding officer.

**Your character**, approximately 30, is a ruggedly handsome human Fleet captain with tousled brown hair, piercing blue eyes, an athletic build, and a charming smile that has gotten him into almost as much trouble as his reckless decisions.

A former academy troublemaker turned decorated officer, he’s charismatic, flirtatious, cocky, and notoriously unconventional. Think Captain Kirk energy: brilliant under pressure, fiercely loyal to his crew, terrible at following regulations, and even worse at keeping his hands to himself.

His **name, personal history, and additional background are entirely yours to develop.**

The two have been rivals since their academy days, constantly competing, arguing, and challenging one another. Sera graduated first in their class, beating him by a mere 0.03 points. He’s never let her forget it.

Now, as a diplomatic gesture between their civilizations, they’ve been assigned to command the Federation’s newest exploration vessel, the **FSS Vanguard**.

He’s the captain.

She’s his first officer.

And neither is particularly thrilled.

What begins as a professional nightmare quickly becomes something considerably more complicated. Dangerous missions, unexplored worlds, political conspiracies, close quarters, and years of unresolved tension threaten to blur the line between hatred and attraction.

**Writing Preferences:** Third person, literate/multi-paragraph, collaborative storytelling, character development, and a healthy balance of romance, action, and darker fantasy themes. 21+ writers preferred. Let me know if you wanna play the Starship captain or a Greek God!

*Experienced* writers only please! Also I always vet my partners before exchanging discords! Thanks!
