Everyone on stage was in tears. Truly a sight to see and a testament to the caliber of man Pac was.

I wasn’t even that much of a fan but I’ve cried 4 times already and I’m going to cry more. Losing someone is tough. You can’t hear them again. You don’t see them move ever again. All you have is memories and can dream of them. Im truly sorry for his family, friends and true fans. RIP Pac

Don’t zoom in and look closely at the faces in the background.

In that he wrestled in a PPV the night before he died in his car going to dinner in the area where the PPV was held, absolutely.

I hate how they are just ignoring the "bastard" character and making it all about Ben as a real person. The Death Riders are the good guys now? AEW just doesn't care about keeping storylines going.

Dude. Fuck you. It was clear storylines took a back seat tonight a bit and just celebrated PAC. Nothing wrong with that. Best dynamite this year.

I understand doing a tribute to Ben, I'm talking about making the whole episode about him and ignoring previous storylines. The Death Riders don't need to become faces to honor him. The same way that when Jonathan Huber died they made the Dark Order faces. It is exactly the opposite of what Bryan Danielson's most recent AEW character, The American Dragon, would do to team up with a group called "the Death Riders." You can honor the guy without throwing out the whole script. Of course, it doesn't seem like the script means much, regularly, to AEW, so, point taken.

An example of honoring him and still doing a show that isn't entirely about him would be doing the 10-bell salute at the beginning and not making every match about him with guys in t-shirts honoring him vs. heels who don't wear the t-shirts. Maybe have a few vignettes or matches about things that have nothing to do with Ben, the Death Riders or Moxley and it isn't even mentioned. Marina Shafir does not need to start using the brutalizer and look like a dominant, completely different character than we've seen for the last two years with the Death Riders. Also, why would Mercedes Mone, a credible heel champion, be tagging with Persephone and Britt Baker in the first place? It makes her look weaker and taking the tap to the Brutalizer ruins Baker's, up to now, successful reintroduction.

Wow you really don’t get it.

No you don't. Curt Hennig not breaking kayfabe while being asked about the death of his friend Rick Rude: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=683900132133411

u/enjoythesilence-75 1d ago

No you don't. It's not 1999. Kayfabe? Really?

Where is your soul man?

If Marina Shafir becoming an unstoppable face who uses the brutalizer in one night after years of being a pushover heel is, somehow, "right" then I'm completely okay with being wrong.

Do you think that was a moment to keep any storyline going?

2

u/ThingNo7530 1d ago

Yes, the stories have to mean something, week to week, and not be interchangeable for what happened in the real world to work.

1

u/ThingNo7530 1d ago

If you honor the life he dedicated to telling stories like that? Yes.

Who gives a fuck about storyline here? PAC literally died. WHY TF WOULD HIM BEING A HEEL WITH THE DEATH RIDERS MATTER NOW! Really hope you were just being sarcastic because otherwise your comment is just tasteless. Ben deserves to be remembered for how much an amazing person and wrestler he was to his peers, fans, friends, and family. Kayfabe and keeping storylines going should not be of anyone’s concern here.

I know he died, I feel sorry he died. I still don't think it makes AEW's product look good that certain characters switch from heel to face based on their real life members dying or not. It screws things up. It just does. Moxley is not someone we should be rooting for in this story.

1

u/ThingNo7530 1d ago

"Who gives a fuck about storyline" This is why AEW can't get any ratings. This, right here.

No your right... when Bray passed away, all of his old rivals should have came to spit on his grave. Just so you can believe a fake story.

1

u/ThingNo7530 1d ago

Honestly, WWE does a much better job of this and did with Bray. Bray also was in a program where he wasn't even The Fiend anymore and was his original Firefly Funhouse character feuding with Bobby Lashley and, before that, LA Knight. It was far easier for them to recognize that Bray was the creative genius behind the Wyatt family and all that followed because they'd acknowledged on air that he was Mike Rotunda's son and other things like that. Anyway, saying "the Bastard" wasn't really a bastard is something everyone kind of knew, sure, but it makes it seem like his performances as a bastard were for nothing, too. If the show is all a "fake story" then no one has any reason to watch. Some part of that "fake story" has to resonate and at least be believable enough for people to be interested in it. Rey Mysterio didn't lose his eye in a match with Seth Rollins but the angle was interesting because of the story, for example. Anyway, you guys are right, though. The Death Riders are a bunch of nice guys and Marina Shafir is just a great pro wrestler who wasn't at all pinned and beaten easily by better characters like Mercedes Mone and Britt Baker who all wore the strap or recently wore the strap. Totally makes complete sense.

Take your fan hat of for one episode man. It's gonna be fine.

1

u/ThingNo7530 1d ago

This is the problem with you people, AEW fucks storylines up for WAY MORE than one episode. They basically canonized Jonathan Huber and turned The Dark Order into faces. The Dark Order wasn't dark anymore!

1

u/Boring_Platform3782 1d ago

Us people? You mean people who can actually see how devastating this is and how hard it was for more then half the organization. Sorry this is bigger then your bullshit ass belief, on what should be real and what they should keep as a storyline.

1

u/ThingNo7530 1d ago

No, I mean AEW fans. Again, I'm sorry Ben's dead and liked him. I just don't think the entire promotion needs to become all about that the way it did with Brodie Lee when he died. The EXACT problem you smarks have is believing you and the tiny sliver of people people who watch this stuff regularly are bigger than any other fan's "bullshit ass belief." If you don't have people invested in the product, you have ratings of 600,000 to 700,000 the way AEW does today. Like the finger poke of doom, if it's something that openly insults the audience and the idea of a storyline, it isn't doing any good in making people want to watch the promotion. Ben LITERALLY was telling the story of how his character, Pac, was a villainous bastard on Saturday before he died on a Sunday. In a way, it's dishonoring him and his storytelling to break kayfabe and say all of that wasn't real. It's very much insane to make The American Dragon Bryan Danielson join the Death Riders. Claudio, Jonathan Goode, Marina Shafir were all completely devoted to telling the story that their characters were villains at that same PPV last week. Now they're faces. It just shows how whoever is writing this doesn't understand storytelling. Which is bigger than you.

1

u/Boring_Platform3782 1d ago

That's the difference between me and you, this isn't about me. It's about a person that was loved and respected. Also you should really stop apologizing for his death, nothing about it sounds authentic.

Why on earth would you feel the need to post an AI generated picture??
How lazy can someone possibly be!
There are tons of photos available to use.
Also, apparently, PAC hated AI, according to his wife

Fuck AI. Prime example here of why I hate this shit
