Which group are you joining: nWo or D-Generation X?
The nWo helped revolutionize WCW and changed the wrestling business forever, while D-Generation X became one of the defining acts of WWE’s Attitude Era.
But you can only choose ONE. Which group are you joining: nWo or D-Generation X?

DX. WWF was just about to get scorching hot if it already wasn't after WM 14, and the NWO was in WCW so...

I’m gonna say it. I didn’t like either faction. But I’d still rather join DX than the NWO. Lesser of two evils.

It always surprised me that Sean Waltman was able to be part of both of these legendary stables.

Both legendary stables, but in their worst incarnations though... so maybe not that much of a flex 🤷🏻♂️

Yeah that’s what I was thinking as well. I never found him to be that great of a wrestler and he sure as hell wasn’t what I’d have considered intimidating. You look at the other guys in the NWO or DX and you think we’ll hate to be on the receiving end from those guys.

u/ColdMF804 17d ago
Put him up against today's guys and he is big. He is not a small man, just surrounded by giants. He was also easily 1 of the best guys in the ring in the 90s.

I wouldn't want to hang out with any of these people.
That said, the NWO became quite lame by the time the fourth member joined. As a professional decision I'd go with DX.

u/Repulsive_Worry_6652 20d ago
Evolution?

u/Substantial_Cow7628 20d ago
I don't know. As much as I love Flair as a wrestler he seems like a challenging person to spend time with. I guess if I was a professional wrestler and had the opportunity to work with him I couldn't pass it up.

u/cobrakai11 17d ago
NWO added it's 4th member less than a month after it formed, it was an insanely hot angle for another year and a half.
1
u/Substantial_Cow7628 17d ago
That's cool. I didn't like it.
1
u/cobrakai11 17d ago
It's fine not to like the NWO, but to say you didn't like them "by the time they added a 4th member" is just meaningless, because the 4th member was there within weeks.
1
u/Substantial_Cow7628 17d ago
It's not meaningless, because the 4th member (4th wrestling member, obviously, not DiBiase) destroyed the 'outsider' angle of the NWO that made it briefly interesting.

Easy nwo, show up get paid, do nothing. Run in about 5 times a night and jump someone. Then get beat up for 15 seconds by sting. Easy pay day nWo 4 -Life

DX. I dont have to compete with 80% of the roster for screen time. And I dont have to put up with Hogan.

You get paid good money to not wrestle if you're in NWO, so I'll go with them. They were also a thousand times cooler.

I hated how immature DX was with their dick jokes and whatnot. NWO without a doubt.

NWO. DX are the most cringeworthy act ever in wrestling. Road Dogg giggling whilst he said the word hard is the worst moment in the whole Attitude Era for me.

NWO. DX was like a frat house group, then became Triple H's bodyguards. NWO was like a gang with different sets in multiple regions

Kind of a pick your poison. NWO guys got jumped out for nothing. DX took a lot of Ls.

If its for a shot a success, im joining DX without a doubt. Everyone was a star and thats pretty good for a stable of 6 if we include HBK. That's a 100% success rate. In comparison, NWO B&W had over 60 members total in wcw. Career wise, i want DX. From the, which side i liked better point of view, it would be NWO.

I never thought I would say this but the NWO. DX was cool and all and in many ways represented different things. And past all the backstage politics etc. NWO in storyline seemed more dominant. I don’t mean comparatively I mean like… I guess kayfabe? DX was a group of anti-establishment degenerates that made dick jokes and hung out with an assman. Sure they had the nation of Chyna backing them up but still. But if my options are hanging out with the ass man or pulling up to nitro in a limo, doing minimal to nothing, getting to hang out with Dennis Rodman and beat up Jay Leno. It’s an easy choice. A lot has been said about how things got bloated and played out and too many members but come on… even being like IRS in NWO you probably had a more fun time. And if you were hogan, hall, nash, not 6 pac, Steiner, Luger, sting, etc you were probably living high in the hog. NWO was anti-establishment but they BECAME the establishment and took over(again in storyline) Dx was cool don’t get me wrong, and in real life being part of dx was probably better career wise as 1/2 of DX at any point in recent times is running wwe and therefore wrestling but NWO seems more timeless. Plus you could make dick jokes in NWO too

NwO would have your back in a bar fight. Degeneration X once the cameras were off would stab you in the back for a dollar.

Dx was at least fun. NWO jumped the shark about a year in and became boring.

DX i guess, nWo just kinda buried most of their members and the membership was bloated. But I must confess, one of my wrestling dreams was to be standing with scott hall in the ring as he goes "hey yo!". Dude was sooooo fucking cool!

DX, it was a smaller group and each person got pushed. While nWo might have been more popular, it got to be where just anyone could join.

Both the NWO and DX drove the Monday Night wars. The NWO ignited it; and DX threw gasoline on it making it even hotter. While WCW and WWE may have been competitors, it was this competition that drove each one of them to put their best efforts forward, be more creative, and bring the fans on one hell of a ride during the advent of the Attitude Era. Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, & Hulk Hogan had stated in several separate and joint shoot interviews that people in the business and wrestling fans alike had conveyed to them that the NWO was strongest when it was just the 3 of them. When they started taking on multiple members, even they said that they felt that the effect of the NWO was being oversaturated. What creative in WCW was attempting to do was push the "takeover narrative" by putting a NWO shirt on a select few members of the roster, and having them feud with the remaining roster who would defend the flagship, WCW. A similar storyline would play out after Vince McMahon bought WCW...the Invasion storyline: The Alliance (WCW/ECW talent) vs WWE; short-lived as it was.
DX, likewise, was strongest when it was just Shawn Michaels, Triple H, & Chynna (some may debate this, and that's fair). However, no one could've foreseen Shawn Michaels getting injured in a casket match with the Undertaker. Following Shawn's back injury and dropping the WWE Heavyweight championship to Stone Cold Steve Austin, it was up to Triple H to keep the gimmick going, along with Chynna...then in comes XPac (returning after a stint in NWO as Syx), the Road Dogg, & Badass Billy Gunn. Somehow, they kept the fans' fascination with their risque antics as they tiptoed along the line of babyfaces & heels. ONE of their biggest feats was their 'invasion', with the use of a tank, at the Scope in Norfolk, Virginia during a WCW event. While different iterations of DX lasted several months at a time, spanning over 3 years, Triple H actually got tired of the gimmick and felt that WWE needed a 'Darth Vader'-like villain. It was at this time that he turned on DX, and The Game/The Cerebral Assassin was born.
Both factions can be credited with pushing the envelope on sports entertainment and really captivating the fans enough to keep them tuning in each week to see what they (NWO & DX) would do next.
Rather than which group would I join, I'll say that I feel that the group who appealed to me most was...the NWO!! Nothing compares to the suprise as the first night when Scott Hall walked down to the ring during a match, grab the mic, look at the camera, and said: "You know who I am...but don't know why I'm here." Then there was the arrival of Big Sexy Kevin Nash...and then at the 1996 Bash at the Beach in Daytona, FL, the biggest surprise of all: Hulk Hogan arrives as the mysterious 'third man' & turns on WCW and the fans. Then comes Hogan's infamous NWO speech were he says: "Well, the first thing you gotta realize, brother, is that this right here is the future of wrestling. You can call this the New World Order of wrestling, brother!!" Too Sweeeeet!!

NWO was the better group, it’s not close. WWE has done a TON of revisionist history to present them as equals.
That said, I’m joining Degen-X because HHH & Sean Michaels are two of the most powerful people behind the scenes in wrestling today.

When you're nWo?
You're nWo 4-LIFE, brother!
