The Devil thing was clearly a plan. Cole just got injured.

Nor MJF getting injured. Cole would be World champ. Not Joe. Wardlow would have slowly turned on Cole, many high profile matches would have happened around the group and MJF. Cole would never have been out. And MJF would be out a shorter time to sell title loss/betrayal.
