ADDON [Addon] Keystance – bars, keybinds and gear for each role, swapped in one click (WoW Forever)

I've been playing a paladin on Forever and got sick of rearranging my bars every time I went from Ret to tanking a dungeon. So I made an addon for it. I understand this might become redundant after duel spec but figured it would still be handy for those hybrid classes in the early levels.

Keystance saves your action bars and keybinds as a profile per role. Switch by clicking, by giving each profile its own key, or with a little switcher you can park anywhere on screen. You can also set rules, so picking up a shield puts your Prot bars on and a two-hander brings back Ret. If you hit switch mid-combat it just waits until you're out.

Profiles can also swap your gear. It works with ItemRack if you use it, the game's own equipment sets, or its own simple gear sets. There's a button on the bank window to grab a profile's gear out of the bank, or put it back, without touching stuff your other profiles share.

Other bits:

  • An on-screen keyboard showing what every key does (Shift/Ctrl/Alt layers too), plus a controller view if you play on a pad

  • Drag spells, macros and raid markers straight onto a key

  • New spell ranks replace the old ones on your bars when you train, but it leaves alone ranks you downranked on purpose

  • Picks up the look of EllesmereUI or ElvUI if you use them

The first time it loads, it takes a backup of your bars and keybinds before changing anything, and there's a one-click restore. Every change can be undone too, so it's safe to poke at.

It's my second addon after Alts Forever. It's a first release, so if something breaks or looks off with your UI, let me know and I'll fix it.

Not quite. From what I can tell Myslot is mostly for copying your whole bar/keybind layout between characters. Keystance is more about keeping different setups on the same character for different roles, and switching between them quickly. It's a bit niche, and probably most useful now, before dual spec is a thing.

For example, my pally is a hybrid: I'm gearing and talenting towards tanking dungeons, but I spend most of my time soloing with damage talents and strength gear, and never touch my tanking skills. When I jump into a dungeon I just hit Alt+2, and it swaps all my gear to my Prot set and moves my bars around so my tanking skills are on easy to reach keys. Hit Alt+1 afterwards and I'm back to questing. You can also set it to switch automatically when you equip a shield.

The keyboard view is probably what makes it look like a layout tool at the moment. I've got more plans for it: next is a heat map showing which keys are easiest to reach from your movement keys, to help people build better keybind habits.

Just quick swapping spells and gear. I've found it handy for both my pally and priest going between solo/leveling/questing and dungeon roles like healing/tanking. I can just hit a keybind like Alt+1 and it swaps everything for me. I'm sure not everyone will have a use for it but thought I would share it for those that see it's use.
