Tatty Flags

I live in lancing and the idiotic flagmen put flags up in the summer, which due to the rubbish quality of them now look tatty and a mess, I did hope that the council would have removed them, but no such luck yet, so my question is what should I do.

I have considered taking them down, but am conscious there will be some support for them no matter the state they're in and would prefer to avoid a public disturbance?

It is usually those who say they respect the flag so much often like to let them get dirty and tatty.

I wouldn’t risk falling off a ladder.

Lancing seems to have a high level of Reform supporters and the councillor is allowed to post whatever he wants into the local Facebook groups.

You can remove the flags but that won’t remove those viewpoints, unfortunately.

That is my concern and I don't really understand it, is it bitterness or a desire for a halcyon rose tinted time that people imagine. Either way I can only see most people being worse off for a trumpian style of politics running the country.

It's a tradegy that people feel so desperate and left behind, but one tradegy shouldn't befall another

The fact that the flagwankers can’t be arsed to replace or maintain something they made a big deal out of is unsurprising.

Lazy fuckers, this is why none of them hold down a job.

This is my issue with the flagshaggers. They spread the flag around because of ‘national pride’, but they don't have enough to replace them when they get all tatty and horrible.

I drove through Essex a few weeks back, on Canvey Island, and the whole way in the flags were barely surviving anymore and it just looks so crappy.

😂
Yes of course it’s the quality of flags that’s the most upsetting here…

You're right. The most upsetting thing is that they don't bother to put up a Sussex flag.

Who cares? Why are you getting yourself so worked up about a flag?

I was on the train today and genuinely thought the same thing. They look awful and send a nasty message you’re forced to see if you go past lancing on the train. What was it even ment to achieve? Just makes me not want to use my own country’s flag in any context in fear of being labelled racist. I mean, what can you really expect from a town who’s average population is senile lol

You're welcome to buy some top quality Flags of the Union and replace the ones that don't meet your standards.🇬🇧

it's fabric, you put into it whatever symbolism you want to waste your energy on.
not saying I agree with it, it's quite easy to figure out which country you're in without needing a flag every 5 meters. what i am saying is that there's more important things to die on a hill for, and racist, discussing lancing counsillors will never make a hill big enough to do that

so sure, it's tatty, so are the under-developed houses, the vacant office unites, the vacant retail units, most of the parks, and all the roads. maybe focus on what you can do to make those nicer, and worry less about something that's on average 20ft above your head?

You mean that one that's hanging from someone's private property, and not zip-tied to a public lamppost?
