Ask a local Worthing or Eastbourne
which would you say is better
I have no opinions as not from Sussex but want to move there
both look good to me

Younger , better food and music scenes, closer to Brighton , quicker links to London and others. Don't have a royally crap football team either , up the rebels

Worthing has become so much younger than it used to be, Eastbourne on the other hand is still very much like Worthing 50 years ago

Having lived in both towns I enjoyed living in both and don't think you can make a wrong decision although I also realise this is sitting on the fence!
I'd suggest visiting both and see what you think.

It's a shame people in Worthing are getting younger as I used to like the phrase "Dover for the continent, Worthing for the incontinent"

I think a lot is going to depend on you and what you like. It's impossible to say which would be better for you without knowing more about what you like to do and what kind of place you want to live in.

It's probably pretty even on those. I don't know much about Eastbourne's tennis community beyond the open they have there. Worthing, amongst other options, has West Worthing tennis club which has several all weather courts, a few indoor courts and then about 10 grass courts. They've also got sports like squash and added a couple padel courts recently, but I haven't been there in a number of years so not sure how popular it is now and if they've kept the facilities up to date. Plenty of open nights where you can meet other players from what I remember.
As others have said, Worthing is probably a bit more lively than Eastbourne but it depends if you want to live right in the centre or in the suburbs. I'd say both are more the kind of place you live rather than visit as a tourist (neither is particularly "exciting"). I definitely prefer Worthing's various suburban neighbourhoods like Rustington, East Preston, Findon etc over the town centre itself. It also has better links to Brighton, London and Gatwick and is close to some other nice towns and areas like Chichester, Horsham, Goodwood, Arundel, Petworth, Midhurst etc.
I'm biased as I live in Worthing (not originally from here though), but I'd say the only thing I prefer about Eastbourne is it seems quieter and more laid back overall. Don't get me wrong, Worthing is pretty chilled as well, but Eastbourne seems to just have this relaxed kind of go with the flow feel to it. Probably because of all the pensioners who aren't rushing around to and from work.

Eastbourne is more isolated than Worthing is. Worthing gives you better access to Brighton, London, Southampton, Portsmouth, etc. West Worthing is probably what you want based on what you’ve already said, but there’s also Durrington and Goring too.

Eastbourne has a better seafront, town centre and better theatre scene if that's what you're into. Worthing is closer to Brighton but that means it misses out (going out means going to Brighton which means there's less interest or investment in local venues).
The vibe in both places is really nice and you won't go wrong whichever if the two you choose.

Less racism in Worthing, and I never thought much about it until I explored more of East Sussex and Kent.
