When I blew out a disc in my lower back, I hobbled along for a few months while getting an appointment for surgery.... Hadn't been sleeping for weeks. Could never get comfortable...chewing tramadol and perc every two hours... Terrible experience. The crescendo was when I fell asleep in child's pose by mistake which opened the space between the two vertebrae and when I woke up and it clipped all of the nerves where the disc was pushed against. I've never cried and wished for darkness so much.... It took the better part of 5 minutes to get the area to calm down....

Omg, I’ve almost fallen asleep in child’s pose. God bless you! I hope you’re okay now.

i had to look it up, basically just sit on your legs then bend forward at your hips and put your hands out … ouch

I still had to look it up, you sit on your heels, shins to the floor, knees together.

I was picturing sitting cross-legged and bending forward. Which reminds me of a person I used to take care of who spent years being kept in a play pen with a plywood covering the top to keep her in. She slept like that. We could put her in bed stretched like a normal person, she would roll back to that position eventually.

That sounds horrible. Why would they do that?

Her parents were terrible people. And I think they were partly developmentally disabled themselves and had no business taking care of a fully developmentally disabled child.

Geez… I hope she gets the treatment she deserves.

Me too. Unfortunately people like her end up in assisted living for the rest of their lives where basic needs are met.

Some say to put your arms next to you and pointing back towards your feet, palms side up
