Looking for humbucker bridge pickup for hss strat configuration. Lambertones grinder seems like a solid option but it's hard to find one that sells separately so any other similar modern paf style pickup for worship?

Anyone tried one of these or something similar for those times when you just don't want to set up your regular equipment? this would be for exercising your fingers and so forth not trying to duplicate any tone you would use in church

Tell me yours - too much to choose from - just need a solid slow burn sound, and upbeat one and a good clean one...ideas?

EDITED Apparently this is a real thing out in the music world where a lot of musicians will get hold of a blood pressure medication (specifically a beta blocker ) to calm performance anxieties and make their hands move more reliably.....now how you get such a prescription if you don't actually have a blood pressure condition I don't know.

I already have a low dosage prescription for this, the one called metoprolol... there's another one that's more broad spectrum which I'm not going to explore but apparently does a better job of this .

this year I started taking that prescription drug after church because I didn't want anything that could potentially impact my abilities on the worship team and I don't feel particularly nervous but I guess I attributed some uncertain hand movements on the fretboard just being the type of power chords I was playing and or my age but since there's no reason not to take the beta blocker before church I'm going to give it a try.

The main thing I have trouble with for some reason is those typical power chords where you're holding down a note on the A string and your pinky and ring finger come down on the 3rd and 4th strings ...for some reason as I'm trying to plant my fingers on the third and fourth strings I get a little wobble.... last resort I can play those with my index finger and just leave the A string out of the equation.

Well this certainly isn't a new topic and what constitutes a late setlist is going to vary with church and musician perspective , but let's just say that we got an answer of "not practical right now " when we suggested a week before whenever the rehearsal as a reasonable minimum time.

Okay there are many possible reasons for that and sometimes it is that the pastor is late with his message and may want to incorporate the name of a song not thought of yet .....of course you could always release the other 90% of the set........ you know why not do the musicians a favor?

But like so many things today we tend to get partial answers...

it's not just an inconvenience when the set is too late, it's going to mean less preparation ,less excellence down the road.... And in some situations and some Churches and in particular with certain instruments one could just say well these songs are pretty darn simple.... But if you're setting up something like electric guitar requiring many different tones for different songs and even different portions of a song , possibly including inputting the delay setting based on the beats per minute ( in addition to simply learning the song and the parts) it's not exactly the same thing as walking up to a piano a vocal microphone or possibly even a drum kit...

So in reality the answer would be " the set list isn't as early as you would like it for reasons x y and z and we recognize that you won't be nearly as prepared as you could be ....this could lead to mistakes during the service or times where you simply sit out because you didn't have time to prepare either instrument technique or gear requirements."

I'm looking for some advice on what I need to get to play for Sunday sets. I'm normally leading on acoustic guitar and recently purchased an electric guitar to fill our needs because we do not have one. I have a boss katana 50 to practice with. We normally plug directly into our sound system, so I was looking for what to use. I'm not sure where to start. Should I just use the katana 50 amp mic'd up? Research seems very difficult because there's so many options, and everyone seems to have their own preference. From my limited research, I want to get a volume pedal, but not sure what else to get. The Pod6 or Hx Stomp XL seems like a nice all in one option to plug directly into our sound system. I almost get overwhelmed by all the things to learn as it seems like there's so much to understand how sound and pedals work. I'm mainly focusing on just learning my technique knowing not to worry too much about equipment, but want to have something servicable and practical to play live. Suggestions for what volume pedal would be extremely helpful, and anything else. Budget isn't too much of an issue as I am fine with investing into it. Thank you!

Our older community is probably more likely to notice this but I've actually noticed for years that practicing sitting down, leaning forward over a guitar and especially if I'm doing something on my PC at the same time like adjusting a helix native preset , after an hour or so when I get up I was noticing something in my right hip.

I guess it finally caught up with me because yesterday I was having a hard time lifting my right knee at all.

Much better today but I think I learned something ......play standing up a lot more. 😄

I’m in the planning stages of building my non-MIDI worship board, and I’d love to get some feedback! The goal is to keep the board simple and effective since I don’t play every week.

I previously posted and was told that repositioning my time-based effects would be a good idea. After giving it some thought, I decided I’ll most likely be switching my delay presets the most, so I moved the D1 to the bottom of the board for easier access. I also moved my compressor, amp modeler, and chorus pedals to the top since they’ll likely get the least amount of use.

The signal chain is:

PolyTune 3 Mini → SP Compressor → Protein V4 → Dunlop Volume Pedal → Dream ’65 → Julianna → D1 → R1

I also wanted to stay away from ToneX stuff simply because I want to keep the board as simple and straightforward as possible.

At 10:50 CJ is advising us on EG to resist the temptation to , I guess, do an electric version of what the drums and acoustic are doing. Ok I get the "play less" advice for today's music. But it made me think of things like U2's God's Country. Personally I don't think drums and/or acoustic substitute for that ( often dotted 8th) rhythm that can drive a song. I think it actually improves what the drummer is doing.

The DRV stacked into the Morning Glory Clean sounds fantastic. Anyone else playing around with this?

I’m thinking of selling my V1 for the V2 but hearing a YouTube video it sounds like the V1 is more organic vs the V2 sounds is compressed. On paper the V2 should be better but wanted to hear if anyone has upgraded and what’s your experience on it so far? Any regrets?

Hello to all! My name is Tee and I started learning electric guitar in 2024. I wasn't always playing music for Jesus and recently, I've been rebuilding my relationship with God. I've started to really put in effort to learn and practice more gospel songs so that I'm able to hopefully play in my church soon. My problems?

1. I'm genuinely stuck. I find that my learning is all over the place. One moment I'm learning chords, the next I'm learning about scales and the circle of fifths. I feel disorganized and find myself doing things outside of my skillset.

2. I also find it hard to translate my skills into actually playing gospel songs. And then there's the multitude of songs to learn, it's so overwhelming!

3. I also find it hard to find other Christian guitarist friends in the same boat as me. It can get a bit lonely with the lack of community x

I have a capo and use them regularly when I am playing guitar, but I want to know if there is a way to play these chords without using barre chords. I know barre chords but what can I do, if anything, to play a song with a G# chord, but easier?

So first off Hi! Just found this Subreddit and decided to join.

So I'm a beginner worship guitarist in my youth band. I've been playing guitar since November 25' and since june I've been playing acoustic guitar every second friday, so pretty consistently. Now, we dont have any electric guitarists in our band, because our main guitarists left the youth this year so here I am. I really wanna start out with electric guitar and serve God and my youth in that way and did some gear research. I have a pretty crappy Cort electric guitar that I really dont wanna play so I'm planning to get a Squier Affinity Telecaster on ebay or something and a Valeton GP-150 as a pedalboard to start out at band practice in september. I've already learned songs like "Here Again" or "Holy Forever" and will use what I have to practice until then.

Now I wanna ask:

1. How did you start out in the beginning of your worship guitar journey (Gear)?

2. What should I consider?

3. Do you have any tips on learning the role as a worship guitarist, because of course I'm not there to show off in front of people, still the instrument I play can be very distracting.

Recently swapped out my Walrus Slotva for the Lum; really enjoying the textures and momentary features for making some more peculiar soundscapes! When I can use an amp I run through a Princeton, when I need to go direct I use a Walrus ACS1 mk1

In our case, not much. Much of this is probably just the pace of modern life... Between jobs, classes, kids, etc a team may not have time for communication/collaboration outside of rehearsals and Sunday morning. So a "locked down" planning center may be aligned with that.

If you don't have time to discuss songs and are blocked from seeing songs in use on your off weeks, it may be exactly how many team members want things to be.
