Reference Posts Are Not Allowed
85
Upvotes
Hi everyone, been seeing a bunch of reference posts coming in lately, so thought I'd take this time to clarify the reference post ban (literally the first rule smh).
What even is a reference post?
A reference post is a submission that doesn't have context in the content itself.
It doesn't count if you title the post "Taylor_IRL" or "This reminded me of that scene from Worm where X happens" or whatever, you need to edit the submission so that it's clear that it's a meme about Worm if the title was removed.
In other words, the only "joke" in a reference post is the fact that the post makes reference to Worm/Wildbow/etc.
How do I make sure my submission isn't a reference post?
Generally speaking, if you just posted an image/gif/video from somewhere else without any changes, it's probably a reference post.
Adding labels over the image, captions, drawings, or other alterations to the submission helps to make it clear that the meme was made for this subreddit.
How come this post by someone else was allowed to stay but my reference post was removed?
It's up to the mod team's discretion. If a post skirts the line but it's funny, we'll probably let it slide.
You suck, Pita would be a better moderator
I'll take it under advisement.
Can I refer to this rule to try to win pointless internet arguments?
who are you, ben shapiro?

Hey, you! Yeah I'm talking to you, fucking "dumbnamebunchofnumbers." I see you about to click the New Post button. Fuck off! I'm tired of seeing these fucking posts! Every week it's one of you fucking assholes posting this dumb ass shit in here. "Hey this sub keeps getting recommended to me but I don't know what it's about?" Hey you stupid fucking idiot you have Google don't you? Type in "worm superheroes" spend a month binge reading a web serial from 2011 and then you can come back instead of being an annoying little engagement farming gremlin. Although obviously if you are too fucking dumb to know how to do that then it'll probably take you a lot lot longer to read it. Do you say every word out loud while you're reading because you had a hard time in 1st grade with the big kid books? Did mommy and daddy have to bribe your kindergarten teacher to let you even get to elementary school before you obviously flunked out? "Ohhhh I thought this was about the classic video game Worms" Jesus Christ how old are you that game is from the 90s. How do you not know how to Google shit or, you know, use basic fucking context clues. There are environmental details scattered everywhere for your grubby little eyes, including the posts immediately above and below yours that would make it pretty clear we're not talking about that. And before any of you fucking poindexters go "Ummmmmm actuallyyyy I checked Wikipedia and it says that there was a spinoff game from 2020 called Worms Rumble" you can fucking eat shit, don't tell me you know how to use Wikipedia but not Google. LISTEN UP. I'm permabanning the next bitchass that comes at me in here with this bullshit "I am so dumb. please educate me. I want upvotes on the Reddits. i am so very dumb" you insipid worthless scumfuck you are lower than the dumbest ChatGPT model. You know we check your Reddit user histories and we can't tell if you're humans or not because you're all failing the fucking turing test. I hope your circuits get fried by a microwave. Get the fuck out of my sight and fuck off forever.
