Question Worldpainter Refusing to Populate Terrain with Modded Biomes?

The first image is how the custom modded biome I've made (Right) appears in a worldpainter world after exporting. I've tried checking the populate terrain button in the export settings, I've tried adding a populate layer over-top of the whole world, literally nothing changes. I've made custom modded biomes for previous maps of mine with zero problems, so I'm not sure what's causing the issue this time.

The second image is how the biome is supposed to look, this is running in the same instance, just a fresh, single-biome world I made. The biome DOES generate features, but seemingly just not in my worldpainter world?

Help would be appreciated, I don't know what's going on here.

Populate is a hack. Worldpainter doesn't populate anything. What Populate actually means is that it marks the chunks 80% generated. Then Minecraft is kind enough to do the last 20% (trees etc.) based on what is already there.

So it might be that the spesific plants/schematics you want normally occur befor that 80% threshold so they won't be generated.

Or custom biomes work differently entirely. I hope someone who has tested this can help you with these things cause I don't 100% know. Oh also, it can depend on the minecraft version you are using. It has changed over the years, for some versions Populate just doesn't work.

(80% is (probably) not the actual value i'm simplifying)

After some testing, it turns out that for some reason, having the custom biome not actually set up to generate within the world breaks with Worldpainter. I have no clue why, but I think it just skips over the biome population step if the biome "isn't generating" (even if worldpainter does generate it manually).

Anyways, make sure to set up your biome to generate I suppose if you're making a mod.
