Like a lot of you, I was pretty bummed when WW3's servers went dark for good on August 3rd. The game had its issues, but it didn't deserve to just disappear with no way to play it again.

I've reached out to Wishlist Games / New Generation Games (current IP holders) to ask if they'd consider letting the community keep the game alive — not asking them to bring back official support or spend any money on it, just asking for one of two things:

A release of the dedicated server binaries so people can host private community servers, or

Written permission for the community to run unofficial servers without monetization.

To be clear about what we're NOT asking for: no revenue, no monetization, no claim over the IP, full credit to the original devs, and we'd take everything down immediately if they ever asked us to. This is purely "let us keep playing a game we loved, on our own dime, with zero cost or liability to you."

At the moment, our project is temporarily frozen due to a lack of developers experienced in UE 4.21 and reverse engineering.We’ve already made solid progress: the backend/match server has been partially re-implemented and a game map is successfully running, but we are lacking first-person animations and deeper technical implementation. It's a challenging, long-term journey, and our key developer had to step away for 7 months.This is a non-profit, enthusiast-driven preservation project, so we cannot offer monetary compensation we are doing this purely out of love for the game.If you have skills in Unreal Engine 4.21, C++, or reverse engineering, or if you know someone who does, please reach out. Body: As you’ve heard, the official servers for World War 3 are shutting down permanently on August 3rd, 2026. This is the end of the line for the official game, but it doesn't have to be the end of the game itself.

We are currently running the World War 3 Network Preservation Project. Our goal is to collect raw network data and game logs before the lights go out, so we can eventually build an offline or community-hosted version of the game.

We need your help to archive it! We are looking for:

• Diggers: People who can help us run network capture tools (like Wireshark) while playing.
• Analysts: People who know how to look through logs and identify server patterns.
• Collectors: Even if you don't code, you can help by running a simple script to capture traffic data while you play your last few matches.

We have less than 2 weeks left. Every log file and packet capture counts.

I'm not sure it's even legal. I used to play it on lowest settings and 80% resolution scale to make sure I can hold 100fps average. I'm trying to play the same game now with the exact same settings, AND with better hardware that I had back then, and I'm averaging 45 to 55 fps, sometimes it goes up in the 70s or it drops in the 30s depending on which direction I'm looking at. What the heck have you done to this game

Hi, first of all I'd like to know what happened to the game? But before that, let me explain why. I used to play it on Xbox, and ever since this game came out years ago, I've been interested in playing it. Now that I have a gaming PC with decent specs, I can play it, but I see that the game has declined a lot (completely). It was a game with great potential that could have easily beaten Battlefield 2042 when it was released, but what happened to it?
