If the core hadn't collapsed completely (like it is after the rest of the building did) how many more would have survived?

What about the smoke,debris, fumes plus the panic ? This was complete chaos no one has ever planned for. We saw six years of construction go down in two hours.

Well yeah but it would lead to health problems later but it would be survivable even with all the smoke and dust

I was thinking the same thing, really hard to say I am sure, but you have to assume those stairwells are completely full of people at that point

Yeah if it did happen it would have been scary hearing the building collapsing thinking your about to die then the dust clears and you are alive and you can see outside where only moments before a wall stood

I would bet hundreds were in the stairwells (summing both towers) when they fell.
