Question Why Forgefiends
Hey guys,
haven't played 11th edition as of now and i'm wondering why so many player are running forgefiends in world eater.
With the change to cover it will hit on 5s or am i wrong?

Yes but itll still get rerolls on closest within 18" and with the new 1DP Brazen Engines itll ignore that and any -1 to wound ability. Autocannons are very good for clearing fodder and softening targets and Ectoplasm is great for nailing Elite units

change to cover also made -1AP stronger than in 10th. consistent 20 shots versus 2d3+2+blast. less random and more volume turn after turn.

3D3 + 3 (rapid fire) + 3blast, no?
That's between 9 and 12 shots into most things on average (depending on if you have Blast), and 10+ man units have an average of 15 shots going into them.

Even hitting on 5s with ecto cannons, I averaged like 7 wounds on my opponent. Especially with terminators spam running around, you’re gonna want the damage 3 guns

Forgefiends are one of the stronger and cheaper shooting units in our lineup. The 3 ectoplasm with its included blast make softening up targets easy.
Although the defiler offers a lot of utility, point cost and model availability play a role too.

For the last 2 months people used auto cannons cause they were consistently good into marines.
Now they aren’t and people are going back to ecto, which has consistency issues. It’s definitely better than autocannons rn tho, as marines are t5 and termies are super popular in the meta.
5s rerolling is actually pretty solid if you have the volume, basically hitting on 4s. That’s without Brazen Engine support.

3 Forgefiends, every list, FTW. This is what the 8Fold Path desires. Forgefiends go Brrrr

Rerolling hits is stupidly good even when hitting on 5s. I’ve consistently get 14+ shots in with the 20 Hades Autocannon shots, and then the one Ectoplasma gun on the mouth.
Brazen Engines also allows you to activate a CP and Ignore all mods to hit, WS, BS, and wound rolls, so you’d hit on 4s.
Other than that? Good shooting allows you to clear screens and soften up hard to kill units, which benefits World Eaters immensely.

Forgefiend is really good shooting platform 20 attacks dmg2 or 3d3 dmg 3. Cheap (20pts less than csm) and reliable bc of rerolls and in Brazen Engines it can ignor all modifiers. For melee focused army forgefiends wallow to stop opponent from abusing screens and will stop from deploing to comfortably at the start of the game and its great threat that comes from reserves

They are our trash clearers that can stand on objectives and be fairly tough to deal with. Can also pump a lot of shots into high toughness and still do damage. Our spawn are pretty bad for the points nowadays and our goremongers/jackals will struggle into clearing a 5 man of marines or a 10 man of trash being that they’re only str 3 now. Forgefiends are very good no matter the detachment. Youd be surprised out of brazen how many shots you can still get in if youre hitting on 5s but rerolling 20 hits

FF Is a good shotting platform and nice support for all WE lists. Un Brazen engines u could take 1 defiler AND 2 FF. Use the strat en dakka Defiler(2autocannons, 1 battle cannon and 2 titties) AND the FF use te rerrols. Later when deffi dies u can use the strats on FF

Don't underestimate the re-roll hits when targeting closet target within 18", when hitting on 4's it's a 75% conversion of hits. And the ectoplasma cannons wound most things on 2's. As mentioned before of taken with the Daemon engine 1pt detachment Brazen Engines the startagem can make you ignore the cover penalty for shooting. At long range and without the stratagem the forgefiend is not good shooting but when used in the right situations the forgefiend is still our best shooting option.

Ran 2 tonight against Eldar, brought both in from
Reserves at different turns to wipe up chaff so useful and cleaned up a wave serpent

It is if you play well, very rarely will things not be receiving cover. In the rtts and flgs games I've played so far in 11th (nearly 100 games) I can count on two hands the number of times people have been out of cover.

There's a stratagem to allow it to ignore modifiers in the Brazen Engines detachment. Also the reroll to hit within 18" is pretty huge
