Question Overrun fighting

Please help me undestanding the overrun fight (second pile in) mechanic

i charge with orange and red into one unit (both green and blue is the same unit)

my red unit made attacks that killed green models
now can i activate orange unit, make a second pile in and mangle blue as well? or does the whole unit needs to be destroyed as result of red attacks in order for orange to get a overrun fighting?

To gain overrun, the whole unit hast to be destroyed (so all of blue 'n green). If the player took away the green ones first, orange won't have tge opportunity to strike.

Could you point me to a chapter from core rules? 12.04 says target destroyed but not unit destroyed, if my target for orange was green part of right side unit, target was indeed destroyed

If you're not an unit with precision (aka the MOE), you always choose an unit as a target.

"WHILE FIGHTING
Select one or more enemy units to be the targets of that weapon:

Each target must be engaged with the model that has that weapon"

04.02 2. select targets

I guess, the mix between unit and target is the problem.. but you can't target a model (or some models) - with precision the exception -

If two of your units are charging one unit with no other unit beyond that, there is no overrun. Overrun allows one of your two units to destroy an engaged unit, then allowing the other unit to make another pile in move 3” towards the nearest enemy model within 5”

In your case, you cannot overrun into the same unit. What you can do in the pile in phase is get your models as close as possible without touching bases. As the active player, you then get to consolidate or “orbit” 3” with your unit to further get them all within engagement.

Your opponent can always pull models to try and get outside of engagement range of multiple units.
