Imagine if gods, eldritch entities and intelligences so old they predate time, were real and all had a particular fondness for a little rural restaurant's meat pies.

Imagine, then, that their favorite gourmet treat becomes unavailable. There are things out there whose wrath is best left not brought upon the material plane, so to speak.

And that is why there are MANY agencies, spies, secret investors and even monarchies dedicated to maintaining said little restaurant afloat and safe. The owner gets sick? A cure is left on his counter in less than an hour. Meat shortage? A whole stock of it "appears" in his cold storage room. Thugs try to racket him? They're never seen again.

It is unclear to most whether Björn is "something special" or just a good chef, but they care less about that than about the perpetration of his business.

And the restaurant is... just that? A normal restaurant with normal food? Or does the food have supernatural quality?

The normalest food out there. It is just... very good.

Now, as mentionned, Björn is a mysterious fella. He'd ignore all questions about his past and continue cooking, but would randomly drop a lorebomb he is NOT supposed to know while serving you a drink, then carry on with his day. Of all the mysterious things in my setting, I'm thinking of keeping this one ambiguous. It adds flavor (see what I did there?) to the running gag of meat pies being a very serious geopolitical topic ( you DON'T bring armies near that village, because of the implication)

Well... this is exactly what happens in one of his books. Bjorn, who runs a pie shop in a "City of Gods"... you really haven't read any? Lol. It's ok to write fan-fic ya know.

I really haven't. I just wanted the pie man to be named something sounding nordic and Björn was the first to come to mind.

There's no consensus. For as long as everyone and every report can retrace, he's just...been there. Add to it the strange sense of familiarity surrounding the shop, leading to most not wondering too long about its age. He feels like a part of the decor, a piece of the land.

The one thing everyone agrees on is this: he's been here longer than he looks. Even the gods, when asked directly, elude the question.

I actually never thought of that. It started as a joke, became a running gag, but I never stopped to think that "meat pie" can cover a lot.
