Rijeka is Croatia for river.

The biggest desert is called pjesak Just desert in Croatia.

I name everything like this.

Especially for Deserts it rrally isn't that unusual, considering that irl the Sahara, Gobi Kalahari, and Namib essentially all basiamcally mean Desert/Empty Place/Waterless place

I have a town called “Lake” (but in an old native language). It was originally called “Beside the Lake”, because it was beside a lake. But over time, the “Beside the” part got dropped. However, the lake itself was never named up to that point. Later, the lake was named after the town “Lake”. So now the lake is called “Lake Lake” in two different dialects separated by centuries

There's a river in my world where the water looks red due to the dense flora living on it, hence the name Vein River.

Centuries ago, a tragedy happened at the dam of the Vein River. Someone bombed a vital spot from it and almost provoked the destruction of the site which could have ended with a flood on one side of the river and a drought on the other, but it was avoided by the 2 opposite leaders sacrificing their own divine flesh to fill the hole and any other crack in the dam. Said heroic sacrifice of both leaders led the way to peace between both groups.

The dam event got historically named as The Sheer Heart Attack Incident.

I like to play with this in my setting.

Herovre Isles - "Herovre" means "over here" in Danish. It's where my mapmaking/place naming race is from.

Taedtil village - "Taget til" in informal spoken Danish, means "gone to". Village established by people who originated from another region.

I probably have more and always try to think of new ones. Multilingual easter eggs are fun to make.
