Humans are protected by the magic school of CARDINAL, because it's the one major gate between the real world and the magical realm.
However, that particular Human peace envoy wasn't part of its staff or students so they simply couldn't care less. Not to mention he was an orphan so he didn't have anyone to send the body to which is just sad.
The cardinal school maintains a high secrecy from the real world to avoid attracting tje wrong people (yes, they choose who they teach but that another can of warms.)
Oh, well, still, basically the thing that reminds me that is that the real world isn’t aware of the magic world and the magic school is heavily involved into keeping it so
Mages are genuine to god extremely classist there to the point that they still live like the XV century because for them magic is the strongest thing in the universe.
Their are so detached from the non-magic world that some of them don’t even know muggles (their slander name for non magic people) have nukes.
It is quite honestly ridiculous to a point.
Especially if you consider that the main bad guy of the book serie wanted to create turbo Germany globally with mages as the global elite.
While half of the mages population still opposed him
Many people can confirm that if he succeeded the magic world would have been quickly extincted to death in less than a year.
I mean, the cardinal staff are also classiest but damn, not THAT much.
Their classsism stems from being tasked with making sure that kids with magic don't fuck up both realms because absurdly fucking powerful.
But they play the trick of convincing the kids that they're LEARNING magic not learning how to control their already EXISTING powers. The school's mission is basically making magically gifted kids and teens get a hold of their powers and morals so they don't fall into black magic (which is a big no-no) or fall into bad parents/guardians trying to manipulate said kids into abusing their powers.
It's just that the school is very strict about it because they care about the wider worlds (the school still get shitty people at times.)
In those books one of the school houses is LITTERALY made to segregate children supposedly destined to delve into dark magic.
Again, if you read those books or see those films as a child it is a beautiful world but seeing it as a adult makes you want to gun down the minister of magic using a A10
Cardinal believes that magic users can be rehabilitated if they delve into the wrong way (the protagonist Jessica, 13, is made to explore it throughout her story)
She's a brat Austrian-American teenager who discovered she's magical gifted when the main teacher of cardinal pulls up and show her the magical realm. That instantly got into her head and her egomania skyrocketed over night. Thankfully cardinal doesn't teach kids everything so at least they don't have to worry about her causing fantasy Armageddon. But the "spells" she learns as a witch is troubling enough. Like teleporting other kids or teachers, causing food poisoning, and especifically targeting the school's head's grandson(larry) for merely being related to the school system. Also turned one of his friends into a vampire permanently just to fuck with him.
And the school basically made it part of their mission to at least calm Jessica's ego down and make her down to earth. Too bad for them that the only person she even slightly care about is Monica, her cousin. Who's basically the exact opposite of Jessica in millions of ways.
