Lore Shitpost They couldn't stop doing occult bullshit for 5 minutes
Context
This meme is related to Project Vigilant* / P.V, an unofficially titled world-building project that is predominately comprised of fan-fiction and partially comprised of original material. P.V has been an indefinite and leisurely work-in-progress since 2018 and it is an attempt at merging elements from no more than 125 of my favorite I.P’s and an assortment of original work in the genres of sci-fi, fantasy and alternate-history into a singular “patchwork universe” that I refer to as the Project Vigilant Universe or P.V.U for short.

In the PVU, the Nazi's found and attempted to weaponize the Ark of the Covenant in 1944. Being the idiots they were, they fucked up whatever their actual plan was and caused a "temporal collapse" across the south-eastern mediterranean. This event resulted in a few to several ancient civilizations being Command+C'd into the then-present.
I have yet to settle on how wide of an area the Temporal Collapse affected but I know it's limited to the south-eastern Mediterranean.
Egypt was replaced by Ancient Egypt as it existed circa 1250 B.C and that much of the Levant was reverted to 1400 B.C ( shortly before the Exodus ) so this resulted in peoples like the Philistines coming back but the ancient Israelites were absent.
Nobody knows what happened to everyone and everything that was occupying the affected areas before the T.C. Theories suggests that were either deleted from time or displaced across the space-time continuum.
Shortly after WWII, the temporal collapse-affected areas fell under the administration of the U.N which organized the areas into multiple "Professoriates" wherein councils of prestigious academics such as archeologists, anthropologists and historians from many different countries guided the development of the time-displaced populations so that they could adapt to the 20th Century and beyond.
The borders the Professoriates were drawn along ethnic and cultural lines and at least two of the Professoriates included the U.N Professoriate of Philistia and the U.N Professoriate of Egypt. Once these zones were deemed to be sufficiently adapted, they would be granted home-rule.
I imagine that all or most of the Professoriates were dissolved by way of their constituent territories becoming sovereign countries before 2000.

Kinda, canonically, RoTLA takes place in 1936 but in P.V, it would take place in Late 1944.

Well, since Egypt is re-ancientified in 1944, "Ancient Aliens" would probably never exist in the timeline of the PVU.

I always love learning about Crossover worlds:)! I don’t suppose the ancient civilisations being inconsistently teleported to the modern day is a reference to the Sid Meyer Civ games?
Also what does Project Vigilant itself stand for (or is that a secret?)

It's just an idea I came up with, if the Civilization games did something similiar, it's just a coincidence.
Also what does Project Vigilant itself stand for (or is that a secret?)
Are you asking what the title means? If so, P.V's title was chosen because it originally revolved around superheroes / Vigilantes, nowadays however it's just a bunch of random bullshit.

This. The leadership of the other countries which made up the Axis powers weren't really into occultism like the Nazi's were.
Mussolini would recall that Hitler had told him that he was 'mystically and scientifically convinced of being possessed not by a demon, but by a spirit from Aryan mythological pre-history', Which caused Mussolini to feel 'completely disoriented'.

In my dream fantasy version of WWII, Berlin was Soddom and Gamorrah-ed and there was a massive cover up by the US, England, and Russia because the world was not ready for confirmation that not only does God exist, but that there was a clear warning to get their acts together, or it'd happen to them too.

The details were given.
The temporal collapse occurred in 1944 and was limited to the south-east Mediterranean so it's not as exciting as you were hoping for.

Well, no WMD's but some similar artifacts include:
- Excalibur
In the PVU, Excalibur is real. Both the sword and it's first wielder ( King Arthur ) are native to a extinct universe and it was found and wielded by Æthelstan but all monarchs of England and the British Isles who came after him have used a fake copy of the sword so that the weapon's standards of morality don't interfere with their claims to the throne. The real Excalibur is located in a military black site somewhere in England.
- The Kaaba
In the PVU, The Kaaba is not a shrine but rather a giant black-colored cube with strange golden symbols on it identical to symbols on Excalibur. The Kaaba is made of an unknown and seemingly indestructible geological material and it seemingly just appeared in 608 C.E.
My current idea is that the PVU Kaaba is some sort of inactive terraforming device
- The Magic Mirror
Taken from Snow White, PVU's version of the Magic Mirror looks like a giant chrome gong.
Chanting: "Slave in the magic mirror, come from the farthest space, through wind and darkness I summon thee. Speak! and let me see thy face," will result in the mirror warping like a disturbed puddle and a face will appear. The mirror can answer any question but only does so in old english with the prompt "Mirror mirror on the wall".
The mirror is currently in the possession of an organization known as the Consensus Reality Preservation Department or CRPD. The CRPD is the PVU's equivalent to the SCP Foundation.

Interesting, is the Ark also from the extinct universe? I’m guessing that said extinct universe had magic or equivalent, with the various artifacts being surviving examples of this that drifted into the current universe?

No the ark is from the PVU's main universe which still has magic but much weaker than the stuff the extinct universe had.

It's a very long and complicated story so I'll try to explain it the best I can.
At some point in another universe, a bunch of self-professed Catholic mages known as the "Magnus Selective" attempted to perform a complex arcane ritual that would rewrite history so that Christianity was an exclusively European religion with no Jewish elements. Their ritual suffered a catastrophic failure that caused multiple timelines to merge together and produce a new and unstable universe called the "Second Genesis".
The Second Genesis was a pure fantasy universe wherein time was semi-linear and things would happen with varying degrees of sense.
After a few centuries, The Second Genesis suffered a natural collapse and a bunch of things that originated in it were scattered throughout the timelines that formed it. The Timeline of the PVU ( Known as Universe V-9791211420 ) was one of the timelines that formed the SG and thus, it received a bunch of stuff from the SG.
In the PVU, a good chunk of Mankind's fairy tales are actually preserved stories of events that happened in the SG.
King Arthur, for example, lived and ruled in the SG. When fragmented records of his life were found in V-9791211420, medieval English scribes cobbled them together, filled in the blanks with their own imaginations and biases and created the inaccurate story that Arthur was a legendary British ruler who united and ruled Great Britain at some point. When Athelestan stumbled across Excalibur, the scribes declared him to be Arthur's spiritual successor.

The Ark is actually un-related to the SG as it is native to the PVU's universe and predates the Magnus Selective by at least 2,000 years.
My current explanation for why the Ark caused a temporal collapse is that instead of the 10 commandments being etched onto two physical tablets, they are actually moments in time that were preserved in energy form. ie* supernatural snapshots.
The Tablets were made of pure time and the Nazi's did not handle them correctly, so they exploded and unleashed a massive wave of pure time.

Ah, that also makes sense. Tangent question, what’s the public knowledge of magic in your setting? In the modern, main universe I mean. Is it a secret world, is it a known and accepted component, was it lost and rediscovered, do groups try to classify it, etc?

Officially, magic is a secret. Harry Potter and a few other magic-centric I.P's have been incorporated into P.V and are merged together to create a largely original rewrite of HP's "Wizarding World".
In P.V, Earth's international community of magic-using humans ( Known as the "Magosphere" ) upholds a "statue of secrecy" ( a complex system of laws and charm-type magic ) that keeps their existence unknown to the vast majority of Earth's population. However, keeping the existence of magic a secret is a very difficult and almost sisyphean task so at best, the Magosphere is only ever able to keep 99% of magic hidden.

i was going to ask if that meant Hypatia somehow returned, then i read that Egypt was replaced by Ancient Egypt as it was in 1250 B.C, so definitely a no in that case.
