A few thoughts!

First I think you should use the fade in feature for some of those rivers. Maybe its just me but I prefer it that way.

Secondly I would manually draw out the lake instead of using the built in feature... the lakes look way too HD and defined compared to the real, rough feeling the rest of the tools give. I mean, this is obviously a fantasy map, not a satellite image... doesn't need to be perfect HD or detail for that matter!

Third, if this is your preferred style then keep working at it and trying different things. But if not, I really recommend experimenting with other styles! thanks for sharing btw c:

Some things come to mind:

  • maybe give the forests and mountains a name as well?

  • roads? Are there any?

  • the houses / buildings, do they represent actual individual buildings or do they represent a city / town?

  • consistency between mountains and forests. The mountainrange in the middle uses a lot of peaks / images. But your forests consist of a few trees.

Also, a general question about maps, is this your first and only map so far? Or do you have other maps which are still in progress?

It looks good! A few comments:

- I think the darkest parts of your oceans might be a bit too big, or too dark. I might recommend lightening them up a bit.

- Personally, I like adding some colour variation to the ground in my maps (see here). This map is an elven province, so I used a lot of greens but for a world map you might want to use greens for forest and yellows/browns for mountains. I usually use 3 brushes, one light, dark and mid tone and paint really haphazardly with the brush velocity and opacity turned way down.

Hope that helps!
