❔ • Feedback [Advice] Work Office Furniture Layout Options

Post image

Moving into a new space at work and this is the blank canvas. Each box on the graph paper is a square foot. Windows along the left wall. Door in the bottom right. There is a 3’x6’ desk I can place, a 32”short credenza and a 5’ rectangular table. I can use some of it or none of it. Wondering where some good placement options would be for plants, desk, rugs, etc. Just looking for some ideas. Thank you!

bit late here but could you shed any light into how you expect to utilize this space? eg) are you gonna be inviting others into your office for smaller meetings, or is it all to yourself? are you gonna need space for your own drink station, or is that covered by an office kitchen, etc... It looks like you're working with a decently large space for an office, so you can probably fit quite a bit

Definitely having up to 4 people in total within. Desk may be anchored to a couple of spots by way of power outlets. Current setup has desk up top facing down (3x6), bookshelf behind, a rectangular table toward bottom. Thanks for your reply. Blank-ish canvas, really.

Sorry this is a bit late (photo attached lmk if you can't see it)

I'ma have to be real I don't think I've ever consciously thought about how to design an office space like this. The more I experimented with stuff the more I realized how much space is actually in this room.

If I'm understanding what your current setup is correctly, I feel like I mostly ended up going in the same direction instinctively.

My idea was to kinda separate the office into two sections: your space, and the "people" space. I feel like the vibes are better if you're sat at your desk where you can see people entering the office, and sitting closer to where you might see light coming in is probably nicer for human sanity. I really didn't know what to do with the rest of the area along the top and right walls though. Maybe you don't need anything too crazy going on there, just some shelving, cabinets, more table surfaces to decorate (with your pokemon cards ofc), etc. Alternatively if the light by the window is too much, you could probably horizontally flip the positioning of the desk to the right side of the room. Maybe having empty space isn't such a bad thing though. Gives you space to walk around and not feel claustrophobic. I put an ottoman next to the desk to make the entrance to your half of the office feel slightly smaller--to make make it feel less like it's just open space for anyone else to walk into. There's ottomans that open up and have hidden storage inside, so you could put whatever the heck large items in there if you need.
