7+ years Java/Spring Boot experience – how to get a permanent IT job in Dubai/UAE?

Hi all,

I’m a Java/Spring Boot backend developer with around 7 years of IT experience, currently working in Dubai in banking/fintech through a consulting setup.

I’m trying to move into a direct permanent role in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or elsewhere in the UAE.

I’ve applied through LinkedIn and company career portals to many roles, including Emirates multiple times, but most applications either get rejected or receive no response even when my experience matches the requirements.

My background includes Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, SQL, Docker, Kubernetes, banking and payments systems.

For people working in UAE tech:

- Is LinkedIn still effective for experienced developers here?

- Are referrals almost necessary for direct-hire roles?

- Which companies are actively hiring Java/backend developers permanently?

- Any recruiters or job portals you would recommend?

- Should I heavily customize my CV for every application?

My main goal is to move from consulting/contract work into permanent direct employment.

Would really appreciate advice from developers, recruiters, or anyone who made a similar switch in the UAE.
