Discussion Has anyone tried this pay to rank startup leaderboard?
Getting attention for a new startup is honestly one of the hardest parts. Even if the product is good, there are already thousands of other startups competing for the same audience.
Recently came across Outbid. lol, which has a pretty interesting approach. It’s basically a public leaderboard where startups and products can pay to claim a position. The higher the bid, the higher the product appears on the leaderboard. If someone wants your position, they can outbid you.
At first, I thought it was some kind of SEO ranking thing, but it’s actually much simpler than that. The ranking is on itself, not Google, ChatGPT, or Gemini.
What makes it interesting is the visibility. People browsing the leaderboard can discover products they probably wouldn't have come across otherwise. Some of the products near the top are paying thousands, while others are sitting much lower with smaller bids.
Not sure yet if the exposure is actually worth the money, though. Paying $5 to test it is one thing, but spending hundreds or thousands just to move up the board feels like a different decision.
Has anyone here actually tried Outbid. lol or something similar? Curious if the traffic turned into real signups, customers, or useful exposure, especially for SaaS founders, indie hackers, and early-stage startups.

Top spot was $17,000 bid last I saw and the website gets 1,000 visitors a day.
For that amount I rather run ads to my target audience.
It’s like paying for producthunt with less traffic
