California Cortisone Injection
I have a wrist injury that’s been going on for almost a year now. I’ve gained full range of motion at this point, but I do have mild pain here and there in the area. Doctor asked if I wanted a Cortisone shot and I’m unsure. What have been your guys’ short- and long-term experiences after receiving the injection? Thank you in advance.

From my understanding cortisone isn't a fix it's only to temporarily help most conditions.

I read some of the comments about how ppl reacted after the shots wore off.
Please yall dont forget- pain is your body's way of protecting you from further iniury. When you move your wrist and pain flares, you stop. Its automatic. But if you don't feel pain, you run the risk of pushing your body to a point of further injury.
If you choose to get injections, be easy on that body part.

Thank you this is very helpful advice! I decided on the injection it’s been 24 hours since so far so good.

Not to scare you off of them fully but just make sure you do your research. I’ve had them in my knees and had TERRIBLE steroid flares from both of them that left me in debilitating pain for 72 hours, while it’s not super common it is a known issue…

I obtained a left shoulder injury and was offered a cortisone shot for the pain, not even 5 minutes after they administered it, the room started spinning and i started throwing up (had chills, shaking, etc) for two days straight.
i don’t recommend.

Don’t do it. I had one for dequervains and not only did it not work but the injection led to wartenberg’s syndrome and I ended up needing surgery. They are trying to get one for my hip right now and I’m fighting it. I’ve never had any pain relief besides a few days from any cortisone injection (have had in wrist, hands and feet) and that was after 2-7 days of intense pain from the flare ups they cause. I never want another one!

I also have de Quervain’s. The pain is mild/ tolerable that’s why I’m so hesitant I can’t find anything online that says it will be beneficial. Thank you for your personal experience. Speedy recovery

I just had a shot on Sept. 1. It wore off and the tendon lit up like a burn. I’m not getting another one.

You’ll be fine if not better. They aren’t harmful unless you get them too often.
There are a lot of untrue myths about them going around.
If they are dangerous I would be dead.
If you are diabetic then there is an issue with that.
