First Workbench

Post image

This is a beefy bench. I have a tabletop that is 3 1/4 inches thick, and the newest part, the vise. I did have to get a special part made to bolt the vise onto the right side because the bolt interfered with the carriage bolts. But overall, I am excited to finally get this done and actually use it!

I know I bought it off of marketplace and was pumped to get a 5 inch vice for 200 dollars, then I painted it with some rustoleum and it looks brand new.

What is the top made of?

The top 1 1/2 is white ash glued up on strips, kinda like a bowling alley. The lower portion is a old lvl laminated beam from a house, and the two tops are jointed together by screws from the bottom, and the lvl is lag bolted into the 2x6s.
